This set of photos was shot at a coastal guesthouse and pool landscape area, mainly wanting to present a clean, transparent summer atmosphere. The look chosen this time is Miku's classic mint green long hair, but major adjustments were made to the outfit combination. Instead of choosing the traditional stage outfit, it pairs a white rabbit-ear headpiece with a full set of pure white ruffled western-style dress design, striving to create a princess feeling that stepped out of a fairy tale. For makeup, to adapt to the strong natural light outdoors, the base makeup selected a lightweight matte texture, heavily preserving the natural skin texture while using a subtly shimmering mint green eyeshadow to slightly deepen the outer corners of the eyes to echo the wig color. Managing the wig took a considerable amount of time; the mint green hair color easily loses its true hue depending on the light, so the styling process required constant attention to the lighting angle to ensure the overall gloss and gradient effect of the long hair could be maintained.
The shooting environment on the day was actually quite a test. Although the sea breeze and sunlight provided excellent natural conditions, when the wind was strong, it easily blew the skirt hem out of shape, and the wig would also be blown apart, requiring frequent local fixing with setting spray. Sometimes, to guarantee a natural curve of the skirt hem, a single movement had to be repeated and shot several times. As for props this time, a white upright piano was specially selected to be placed by the water. The baked-enamel mirror surface of the piano, plus the reflection of the water surface itself, added a highly intense sense of layering to the entire frame. In addition, a white lace parasol was also a key prop, which could both block the harsh light shining directly from above for local fill light and serve as a visual extension when held, breaking up the originally rigid contour.
When shooting the swing set of visuals, I deliberately preserved the natural and extended lines of the knees and legs, where the over-the-knee white long stockings and high-heeled ankle boots beautifully modified the body proportions visually. The photographer utilized a low camera angle plus the reflection of the foreground water mirror on the ground to capture an exceptionally flawless upper-lower symmetrical composition. Sitting entirely on the swing under the flower vine archway, surrounded by blue-green vegetation and white wild flowers, the visual tension was maxed out instantly. The few sets next to the piano were close-up macro shots; when leaning against the piano keys, I slightly adjusted the position of the red gemstone pendant around my neck as a visual focus. Although the white dress easily shows local dead white or overexposure under strong light, as long as the lighting ratio is well-controlled, it can present a soft highlight atmosphere instead.
I have to say, this kind of outdoor real-scene shooting, though physically exhausting and requiring hauling various equipment to move around, delivers a final photo outcome that is indeed far more vivid than studio shooting. The agility randomly endowed by nature when the wind rises, when the water ripples shake, or even the instant the skirt hem grazes the piano bench is highly difficult to add in post-processing. The color baseline of the entire set was determined very early: blue sky and white clouds, blue water surface, greenish-blue wig, and the purely white costume, paired with a tiny bit of red gemstone embellishments. This low-contrast, high-brightness color combination makes the final product look highly soothing, beautifully fitting that pure and flawless anime aesthetic under this healing style photography piece for the Anime girl character during this Cosplay photoshoot.
