For this Elysia Cosplay shoot featuring the Herrscher of Human swimsuit, I specifically chose the coastal waters of the Bluenose shipwreck. Seeing that quote, "If you are a stranded ship, I will come for you," felt like the perfect resonance with this shipwreck coast, so I made a special trip just for this outfit.
To catch the gentle early morning light, we began preparations along the shore very early. The wig was classic long straight pink hair with a subtle white gradient at the ends, crowned with white rabbit-ear hair accessories. The makeup emphasized translucency, mainly using soft pink-purple tones around the eyes to better bring out the character's ethereal, lively charm under natural sunlight. The swimsuit was a two-piece set pairing light purple with white: the top featured white lace ruffles and golden metal accents, while the bottom was a ruffled skirt style with white lace-up bows. To enhance dimensional layering and the Summer beach atmosphere, an inflatable blue-and-white swim ring was prepared as a prop.
Shooting while standing in the water proved more difficult than expected. Although the waves were mild, water resistance made walking and turning quite physically demanding. To capture clear reflections on the water's surface, I needed to stand where water reached past mid-thigh while ensuring the currents didn't disrupt the skirt hem and ruffles. The morning seawater was chilly, but for the sake of the visuals, I persevered in the water to complete various posture adjustments. In the first photo, I shielded my eyes with one hand while gazing into the distance, which added narrative depth and translucency alongside the calm water reflection. The second photo featured a standing pose with hands on hips, showcasing the tailoring and ruffled details of the Swimsuit cosplay straight-on. Reflected light from the water illuminated the lace on the garment, allowing its textures to be fully appreciated under natural daylight.
As the sun grew stronger, noticeable glare appeared on the water, requiring constant adjustments to camera angles or turning my face slightly toward the light source to avoid overly harsh shadows. The blue-and-white swim ring provided a lovely accent color that harmonized with the light purple swimsuit without clashing, perfectly echoing the Summer beach theme. In the distant background, harbor cranes and moored vessels added a clash of industrial presence against the natural waters.
Overall, the finished photos from this shoot achieved our envisioned results. From selecting the costume and styling the wig to on-location shooting, while the journey was exhausting, seeing the refreshing summer atmosphere captured in the frames made everything worthwhile. The textures and details of this Herrscher of Human swimsuit translated beautifully in natural light, with water reflections adding wonderful liveliness to this Honkai Impact 3rd Swimsuit cosplay shoot.
