Big Sister Bronya asked me yesterday if I wanted to go to the beach together since summer has arrived. The very first thought that popped into my head back then was that I absolutely must bring Seele's refreshing swimsuit look to life. Since we're going on a seaside vacation, facing the sunshine and sand, the most important thing is a lightweight summer outfit. From the clothing to the wig, from the details to the overall styling, everything was crafted by @hommik小黎. The moment I got my hands on it, I genuinely thought it was incredibly beautiful, and it perfectly fits the imagination of summer Seele in my heart.
The material and tailoring of this outfit are highly critical. The large area of white combined with a faint light blue and pale pink gradient creates a highly dreamy and gentle color palette. The ruffles of the swimsuit and the bow design of the waist tie are handled very delicately, and the skirt hem features a fluffy, multi-layered lace material that will definitely look amazing when the wind blows through. The wig's color is a bright blue that I've always wanted to try. This kind of hair color can easily look cheap if you don't pay attention to trimming and care, but Xiaoli's craftsmanship is very solid; the hair strands are smooth, and the sense of layering is well preserved. Coordinated with the light blue bow hair accessory on the side, the character's recognizability comes right out instantly, where simple accessories served as the crowning touch.
To match Seele's relatively gentle and introverted character traits, the makeup choice this time features a clean, white, and translucent base, deepening the eyeshadow just a tiny bit to highlight the character's temperament. Because it is a swimsuit cosplay look, the whole outfit naturally carries a fresh, dewy sheen. During daily shooting, the light is natural, and the reflection effect of the mirror added a lot of refreshing ambiance. Although this plan was launched because of Big Sister Bronya's invitation, once I put it on myself, I found it exceptionally comfortable, completely lacking the stuffiness and confinement brought by heavy cosplay costumes.
In fact, the mirror self-portrait in the image was just a casual snapshot I took during the costume trial, and I didn't expect it to look quite good, so I saved it on a whim. Standing alone in front of the mirror back then, I thought this pose would be relatively natural and relaxed if going to play at the beach. It doesn't matter if the phone blocks the face; the main point is to display the overall coordination effect and summer atmosphere of this outfit. If there's an opportunity to shoot on an actual beach in the future, cooperating with the waves and fine sand, I believe this look will have even better expressiveness. I think what I enjoy most about doing Anime cosplay is this feeling of bringing characters I love into specific real-life scenes.
Seele is my signature character; from the moment I first touched this game, I was drawn to her personality. To be honest, this summer swimsuit look is a highly classic impression in many fan arts. Being able to wear it with my own hands today, even though it was shot in a home environment, fulfills a small wish of mine. Making clothes and wigs is no easy task; every single stitch and hair strand treatment embodies patience and painstaking effort. Special thanks to @hommik小黎's exquisite craftsmanship for giving me such a wonderful sense of companionship. Every time I do a cosplay, it is a brand new interpretation of the character's image. This summer, there is Big Sister Bronya's invitation, and there is also my expectation for summer as Seele. I hope every future shoot leaves behind such relaxed and happy memories.
