Today, I made a special trip to check out the Wuthering Waves offline event, fulfilling a long-held wish of mine. Bringing this Suisui look to life took nearly a month of preparation from start to finish. From drafting patterns to fine-tuning every trim, I aimed to recreate the character design with the highest fidelity. In particular, the black-and-gold cutout paneling around the neckline and chest, along with the feathered edging, were intentionally crafted with lustrous fabrics that cast a gorgeous specular sheen under the venue lights. The sleeves were made of black sheer tulle, paired with white arm bracers wrapped in pearls and gold ties, while gradient feather-cut tails cascaded gracefully from the hips and back with lovely drape. The wig was selected in a warm blonde tone, styled with blunt bangs and gently curled tendrils framing the cheeks, accented at the crown with blue-and-yellow bird feather hairpieces, red tasseled cord knots, and a cross marking painted right at the center of the forehead. For the eyes, layered red eyeshadow with an upswept wing gave the expression a commanding presence. To harmonize with the outfit, a golden thigh ring was worn alongside glossy black stilettos, sharpening the overall leg line into a crisp, sleek silhouette.
Arriving at the venue and seeing my own life-size standee on the backdrop display was a genuinely surreal moment. So many visitors came up to tease, 'So this is the legendary life-size figure Teacher Shiba!' Hearing jokes like that was honestly really heartwarming. Seeing the identical styling printed on the backdrop felt just like gazing at another version of myself. The on-site lighting was quite intricate, mixing high-intensity booth spotlights with ambient diffuse spill. Given the specialized fabrics, taking photos required constant micro-adjustments of my stance to avoid blowing out highlights or creating harsh glare. After taking several close-up portraits and full-body frames, the textures of this ensemble showed up beautifully on camera.
Participating in the Wuthering Waves Creator Incentive allowed me to connect with so many like-minded creators, exchanging insights on costume crafting and makeup fidelity. Honestly, cosplaying characters with such dense detail always teaches me something new—such as blending disparate fabrics seamlessly or styling accessories so they never look bulky on camera. The atmosphere at the Wuthering Waves offline event was fantastic, and I hope even more people come to adore this character. Swapping photography tips and post-processing approaches with everyone made the whole journey deeply fulfilling.
