These Convention photos for Sakiko Toyokawa have finally arrived. Crafting this Ave Mujica ensemble from BanG Dream! demanded substantial preliminary effort. The wig was selected in a cool-toned pale blue styled with partial braiding, complemented by custom-tailored black lace ribbons on either side to match the canonical texture as closely as possible. Makeup centered around reddish-brown smudging around the eyes with soft blush layering, which, paired with amber contact lenses, aimed to channel that cool, porcelain doll-like presence.
The wardrobe structure is notably layered: the red-and-black puffed-sleeve blouse carries a subtle sheen, accented by a sapphire brooch layered over a black ascot scarf. The exterior black leather corset features crisscross lace-up ties; to maximize silhouette definition on camera, I laced it quite snugly before shooting. Though it restricted breathing slightly, it sculpted the waistline cleanly. The lower half consists of a multi-tiered skirt—black lace-trimmed fabric on top revealing glimpses of white sheer tulle underneath—paired with black fishnet lace gloves that showcase delicate textural variations.
For props, I carried a slender cane with a metallic handle alongside a black ribbon, requiring continuous adjustments to hand grips. For Photos 1 and 2, we scouted a relatively clean backdrop across the convention floor, utilizing the photographer's softboxes and shoot-through umbrellas. In Photo 1, I rested a hand lightly near my head; in Photo 2, I rested both hands along the hips while holding the ribbon. By Photo 3, I adopted an over-the-shoulder three-quarter profile, gripping the cane while turning back toward the lens. Because the venue flooring was glossy, we deliberately incorporated these surface reflections to enrich compositional depth.
Lighting at the Chongqing anime convention venue was quite complex due to mixed overhead fixtures, meaning the shoot relied entirely on the photographer's strobes to overpower ambient spill and keep facial tones translucent. To achieve ideal results, we re-angled the lights multiple times, keeping focus locked sharply onto ocular details. The shooting rhythm was brisk; maneuvering in a tight corset and tiered skirts meant constantly smoothing the hem to prevent unseemly bunching. The ensemble felt restrictive, but seeing the dramatic chiaroscuro and crisp skirt folds made the dedication worthwhile. Leaving the convention floor softly blurred in the background provided the perfect ambient frame.
