This full moon ball-themed photoshoot set was chosen to be released today because it happens to be Sakiko's birthday. These frozen moments condense hours of makeup styling and lighting setups, and I am super excited to share the behind-the-scenes details of this shoot with everyone.
Styling is often the most time-consuming yet rewarding process to refine. To faithfully restore the character's demeanor, I wore an ice-blue long curly wig, crafted with meticulous blunt bangs and side braids to evoke that aloof feel distinct to the original art. Though the black spiral horns headpiece and silver decorations looked gorgeous, special attention was needed during shooting to keep angles stable and avoid a top-heavy mismatch. The dress relied on deep black as its primary tone, artfully incorporating translucent lace edges and velvet-textured fabrics; the blue-and-white striped ribbon bow across the chest broke the monochrome heavy tone, enhancing visual vibrancy. I specifically prepared black stockings and platform ankle boots embellished with bright blue bows, which served as highlights for the full outfit even when seated.
Location selection largely dictated the baseline tone of this photo set. We shot in a retro vintage-style interior featuring a black leather studded sofa, an aged wooden side cabinet, and a white plush cushion, constructing a quiet space seemingly hidden in midnight. The element triggering the deepest emotional resonance was undoubtedly the black grand piano. Illuminated under cool light sources, the keys reflected like sheets of ice. Whenever sitting before the piano bench or leaning against the side of the instrument, the character's signature cold detachment and inner softness flowed out naturally.
Working with the photographer, we experimented through numerous compositional angles. What satisfied me most about this set was the play of light and shadow. Instead of broad, bright soft lighting, we preserved substantial environmental shadows, utilizing cool blue rim lighting and targeted local highlights—such as casting light on white flowers or my face—to emphasize Gothic drama and conflict. When shooting the unedited couch shot, to portray character confidence, we intentionally adjusted camera tilt angles, matching my slightly raised gaze and hands rested on legs to convey an aura of effortless composure.
When switching to interacting with the piano, I adopted a completely relaxed mode of expression. Whether subtly lowering my head to smell white flowers or looking directly into the camera, I wanted the frame to carry a sense of storytelling. The entire shooting process was quite physically demanding; intricate skirt hems and headpieces had to be kept tidy while moving, alongside continuous expression management before the lens. Fortunately, we ended up with final photos that appear quiet yet filled with emotional tension.
Leveraging the romantic concept of a \"Full Moon Ball\" alongside today's special birthday occasion, I wanted to use this work to answer that long-standing affection. Dedicating oneself to character interpretation goes beyond surface resemblance; it is a process of understanding the character's inner psyche. The moment the shutter clicked, I preserved this photoshoot set together with heartfelt wishes.
