[Mai Xiaowen cosplay] Delta Force x Arknights Tactical Revelry

Our itinerary for ChinaJoy D2 kicked off at the AGON booth. For this appearance, I brought a dual collaboration styling bridging Arknights and Delta Force—a synthesis of Mai Xiaowen (Mai Xiaowen cosplay) and Wishadel (Wishadel cosplay). Stumbling into an organic sighting of 'Sister Wang' on the convention floor felt wonderfully relaxed. To faithfully honor this tactical design, the wardrobe utilized extensive black leather and metallic harness buckles; the metallic crimson shoulder fabric formed a sharp chromatic clash against deep navy feathers, which—paired with a stark white wig and crimson contact lenses—strove to manifest a fiercely combative visual presence. The prop firearm in hand was treated with realistic weathering and battle-scuffs, which, anchored by the tactical cummerbund and thigh holsters, brought multi-dimensional depth to the silhouette. While this tactical gear looks undeniably badass, traversing a convention floor all day is an endurance trial; the thigh straps in particular needed frequent readjustments to keep them taut and flattering along the leg contours.

The shoot was captured using a Fujifilm GFX100S paired with Sigma 40mm and 85mm primes. The medium-format dynamic range performed phenomenally amidst the convention hall's erratic ambient light. In an environment crisscrossed by red and blue neon, the lush bokeh from the wide aperture cleanly melted away the bustling background crowds, isolating the subject instantly. The 40mm focal length was ideal for environmental portraits showcasing the booth's black-and-white checkerboard backdrop, while the 85mm excelled at close-up frames, locking onto subtle eye expressions and makeup textures with surgical precision. To harmonize with the lenses, I calibrated my posing dynamically—such as extending my legs while seated on a folding chair to leverage diagonal leading lines, or holding tactical aiming stances that demanded core bracing to maintain rock-steady firearm stability. The hall lighting was notoriously tricky, teeming with competing ambient fills and stage fixtures, yet medium format's high resolution and latitude gave post-production massive breathing room to protect both shadow nuances and specular highlights.

Many ask how I maintain character presence amidst high-intensity conventions. In truth, preparing every tactical character is a journey of forging an emotional bond with them. Melding Mai Xiaowen's razor-sharp efficiency with Wishadel's hint of manic defiance required sharper, more decisive choreography. The venue's illumination shifted rapidly; synchronizing with the photographer's guidance to pivot facial angles the moment the red and blue key lights crossed was vital to locking in peak textural clarity. I poured considerable care into garment nuances as well—the placement of waist zippers and the orientation of metal buckles along the leg straps were aligned to authentic techwear functionality while accommodating bodily articulation. For footwear, chunky-soled combat boots not only elongated bodily proportions, but also delivered crucial arch support for endless hours of walking.

The entire shoot unfolded seamlessly, with our creative synergy growing sharper with every frame. Gripping the prop firearm called for continuous arm tension alongside an unwavering, resolute gaze to anchor the outfit's commanding gravitas. The hall's stuffy heat paired with layered armor certainly worked up a sweat, yet reviewing previews on the camera monitor melted all exhaustion away instantly. This collection captures candid moments from the convention floor, and I hope to share this electric excitement with everyone. It represents far more than just a set of photos—it is a testament of genuine love for these characters and a freeze-frame of convention memory.
