[Misumi Uika cosplay] Ave Mujica Uika x Sakiko duo: mysterious staircase atmosphere of putting on a mask for you

This time, we shot Misumi Uika and Sakiko Toyokawa from Ave Mujica, commonly known as the Uika x Sakiko duo. The shooting location was chosen on an indoor staircase with vintage stone railings, where the steps were laid with a blue, brown, and gold patterned carpet, accompanied by warm yellow light strips under the handrails. This environment naturally carries a gorgeous and vintage texture, fitting the characters' innate tone very well.

I cosplayed Misumi Uika this time, with light blue long hair tied into twin tails and paired with black hair accessories. The outfit features a red-and-black color-blocked design, with a black bow at the neckline and ruffles on the cuffs. My partner portraying Sakiko Toyokawa had blonde hair with straight bangs, wearing a black long-sleeved top with a white high collar, a brown leather belt tied around the waist, a multi-layered black skirt hem revealing white lace along the edges, white stockings on the legs, and black Mary Jane shoes with ankle straps. To fit the theme of "putting on a mask for you," Sakiko's right hand wore a black mesh glove, raised to cover her right eye, with her gaze controlled to be quite cool and aloof.

In terms of choreography, I sat behind Sakiko, wrapping both arms around her to present a protective yet slightly possessive posture. Sakiko naturally extended one leg forward while bending the other. This sitting posture actually tests core strength quite a bit, because the staircase has an incline, so the center of gravity had to be adjusted to avoid looking stiff. To highlight the leg lines and the layering of the costumes, we tried several angles, ensuring that both the straps on the white stockings and the lace of the skirt hem could be displayed perfectly in the frame. At the same time, the eye-covering action with the mesh glove was also a key focus; it added a sense of mystery to the picture, and combined with the light and shadow in the staircase, the atmosphere was immediately established.

The most troublesome part during the shoot was arranging the skirt hem, because the black skirt hem was very long, easily dragging on the floor or piling up on the stairs, requiring constant adjustments to make the drape look natural. The leather straps of the black Mary Jane shoes on Sakiko's feet also required constant attention to avoid mishaps. The red and black fabrics created a strong contrast under warm light, especially the red parts of Uika's outfit, which were sensitive to light reflection; we specifically adjusted the fill light positions to make the color saturation fuller in the lens.

Throughout the shoot, to present this kind of image with a gothic vintage feel, we also handled many details in makeup, such as the blending of eye makeup and the choice of lens colors, all to better match the character settings. Space in the staircase was limited, so we made the most of the height difference of the steps to enrich the composition—for example, having one person sit on a higher step while the other leaned on a lower step, forming a visual progression. Finally, seeing that vintage and somewhat dark-romantic atmosphere in the finished photos made all the hard work of adjusting poses and clothing details beforehand feel completely worthwhile.
