This set of aquarium photos, from concept to execution, focuses heavily on how to create the lonely yet mysterious aura of a Deep Sea Witch in a real environment. Combining with the character's inherent tone, a custom extension was made on the costume: a large amount of Baroque lace and pearl beads were added to decorate the hat brim, which, paired with highly saturated blue velvet gloves, beautifully enhances the nobility and texture of the frame.

Shooting in a special venue like an aquarium, the biggest challenge is the lighting. The light projected from the fish tanks becomes bluish-green after being filtered through the water. If we directly rely on ambient light, the character's face is prone to looking dull with chaotic shadows. Therefore, for this shoot, the photographer and I utilized extremely low-power warm-and-cool dual-color temperature fill lights to neutralize the shadows along the jawline. This keeps the facial features dimensional and clear while preserving the cool, natural blue glow of the background jellyfish tank. This neutral-leaning lighting approach allows for higher integration between the character and the environment, boosting the overall quality of this Aquarium photography.

For the hair and makeup, to match the jellyfish elements, the ends of the wig were dyed with a blue gradient and intentionally kept a slightly curled, fluffy volume, simulating the state of swimming in ocean currents. The eyeshadow selected a shade with subtle shimmer and polarization, echoing the faint bioluminescence of the jellyfish. Certain restrictions were also placed on the shooting movements; since the skirt hem is a combination of multi-layered tulle along with relatively long blue streamers, to capture a free-flowing, dashing look, I had to constantly control the extension of my physical movements. The posture of holding the wand referenced the official art settings, appropriately increasing the tilt of the arm to prevent the actions from looking too stiff.

This time, the composition mainly relied on a mid-telephoto lens to compress space. Since the aquarium was quite crowded with people around, a telephoto lens can effectively avoid the crowds to capture a pure single-person frame, while compressing the background jellyfish colony to look like a nebula, reinforcing the overall atmosphere. When switching between different shot sizes, the close-up shot perfectly and clearly presented the pearl details of the hat, the color of the blue contacts, and the texture of the eye makeup. Although the shooting process was quite physically exhausting, seeing the light and shadow of the jellyfish filtering through the strands of hair and the naturally extended state of the skirt hem in the final photos made this immersive character interpretation experience truly wonderful. It completely achieved the expected Deep Sea Witch theme for this Anime cosplay.
