[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact: The Tranquil White Dove and Wind Under the Moon

"A white dove under the moon, where is home?" This line perfectly fits the fragile yet soft atmosphere this set of photos aimed to convey during initial prep. The inspiration for this work came from reorganizing the character's defining elements; I had been studying for a long time how to materialize a fairytale-like tranquil feel.

First, as a visual anchor, the classic red-and-black highlighted long hair is the soul of the look. To recreate this layered dimension, we specially trimmed the air bangs and density of the sideburns on the wig material, ensuring smooth light reflections under studio lamps. As for outfit design, this costume incorporates a rich mix of textures: the main body uses airy chiffon and white tulle, which are soft and perfectly convey an ethereal aura. However, at the cuffs and waist, we utilized slightly structured pearlescent satin along with numerous white hollow laces. This clash between soft and structured fabrics focuses visual attention on the limbs and waistline contours. Although adjusting these laces repeatedly during dressing was tedious and left red marks on my arms if worn too long, all the effort was completely worth it for the final presentation.

The key highlight of the shoot lay in those little wings. Instead of designing exaggerated giant wings, we crafted them into feather ear accessories fitting closely along the sides of the ears, which preserved the angelic hint without stealing the spotlight. When framing shots, I leaned toward capturing quiet, still moments—such as closing my eyes while brushing a hand over the dove's wings, or lowering my head to touch petals in my hand. For the composition leaning sideways against the crescent pillar, I deliberately adjusted my seating posture so the arm straps and cross-laced bands along both sides of my legs were fully visible in the frame. Under cool-toned light, the fabric textures and folds lengthened body proportions, evoking a resilient yet fragile sense of strength.

Throughout the entire photoshoot, my favorite prop was actually the white dove. Though a crafted prop, its feathers used a 3D flocking technique, giving it an authentically soft feel when held in hand. When shooting the photo holding the dove high, the photographer constantly reminded me to adjust my arm height to ensure the dove's wings formed a perfect triangular composition with my face and red hair, keeping the frame expansive without losing balance. Another look featuring a white mesh-woven blindfold completely contained character eye contact. This blindfolded state gave the photo a dreamy haziness wandering between reality and dreams—as if hiding emotions, or listening to the sound of moonlight falling.

To complement this serene and desolate ambiance, the set was packed with cotton simulating clouds and mist, dotted with numerous light-blue artificial flowers. The circular crescent moon behind served as the core light source: we placed warm rim lighting from the rear-side to outline hair texture, while the frontal key light used a cool softbox. This warm-and-cool interwoven lighting scheme rendered skin tones transparently smooth while highlighting the rich translucent layers of the white tulle and blue skirt hem, ultimately contrasting vividly against the red-and-black hair color. The shoot covered many action sequences—from initial half-body close-ups to final full-body seated poses—with every tweak aimed at finding the most harmonious interaction between person and scenery in this Cosplay daily life setting.

Though the shoot took half a day, seeing the tranquil aesthetic assembled through symbols like moonlight, white doves, and feathered wings in the final output convinced me that this quiet power carries far more impact than noisy, flamboyant angles. Rather than purely chasing extreme character accuracy, I hope that through light/shadow and emotional orchestration, these photos serve as an independent aesthetic expression—unpretentious, yet subtly and uniquely restrained.
