Preparing this birthday tribute shoot for Furina truly required immense dedication. Starting with the costume, to capture the rich contrast between deep blue velvet puff sleeves and crisp white lace, I compared multiple textile swatches before selecting the final fabric. The pearl strands and golden choker collar at the neckline form the centerpiece of this ensemble; when putting them on, maintaining meticulous layering while ensuring they wouldn't shift with movement was paramount. The delicate pearl trim encircling the cuffs was also prone to snagging or dropping while walking, so I moved with great care. The crown atop my head is a custom 3D piece with notable weight; to stabilize head postures during shooting, I reinforced the interior with hidden hairpin anchors, while using several bobby pins to lock the crescent moon ornament into its optimal angle.

Trimming and styling the wig was equally demanding. Featuring soft white waves accented with light blue gradient highlights, I sectioned and trimmed the bangs methodically and kept the side locks subtly tapered inward to contour my face naturally according to the original character design. To maintain airy volume, generous styling spray was applied before the shoot. For makeup, vivid blue contact lenses were indispensable. The eye makeup used a cool pale blue base dusted with subtle shimmer to heighten translucency, paired with a softly winged yet gentle eyeliner to mirror her nuanced disposition. The lip color was chosen in a natural coral-red to preserve a radiant complexion across varying light exposures.

The studio shoot featured two distinct visual directions. Photo 1 was designed as a graphic layout with extensive post-production visual effects; to leave sufficient negative space for typography and bubble effects, I posed angled in three-quarters profile with hands gracefully clasped, gazing straight into the lens while black semi-sheer gloves added a touch of mystique. The white floral backdrop was rendered with shallow depth of field, dissolving into dreamy bokeh. Photo 2 was captured against a clean, light blue solid background, primarily showcasing crisp garment textures and character presence. Since dark blue velvet tends to produce unwanted specular sheen under strobe flashes, we used a large softbox as the key light complemented by side rim lighting to sculpt fabric weave and bodily contours.

Creating this birthday set was about offering a sense of ceremonial celebration for a beloved character on her special day, as well as documenting my own cosplay growth. Every set design, makeup application, and lighting adjustment represents my best effort to bring a 2D vision alive in 3D reality. I hope everyone can feel that heartfelt devotion.
