[Yae Miko cosplay] Miss Fox's Confidence and Laziness

When shooting this Yae Miko cosplay, the most painstaking parts were managing the hair and makeup. The golden headpiece was extraordinarily heavy, requiring numerous bobby pins secured at the roots to stay in place, and it threatened to slip off whenever I looked down. As a result, I had to keep my head upright or slightly tilted back throughout the entire shoot—quite the test for my neck! After buying the pink wig, I trimmed the layers myself and thinned out the ends so it would look more natural without appearing top-heavy.

Lighting was another major hurdle during the shoot. The ambient lighting at the Anime convention was quite chaotic; to capture fair, translucent skin on camera, we scouted a darker corner and used a large white reflector for fill light. Maintaining proper posture throughout the cosplay session was vital. Yae Miko's costume features a separated design with long, loose sleeves; dropping my arms carelessly would make the sleeves stick to my body, breaking their airy elegance. Therefore, I had to sustain specific arm angles and mind delicate finger gestures to keep everything looking natural.

I particularly love the final half-body shot—resting my chin on my hand with gaze lowered slightly, an oblique downward glance that perfectly channels the 2D character's aloof haughtiness laced with a hint of cunning. The seated and reclining poses also demanded special care: the white plush mat was quite slippery, requiring me to press firmly against the edges when lying down to keep from sliding off. The long red staff prop was actually rather light, but I had to keep my wrist taut to project a crisp, decisive presence.

The overall red-and-white palette complemented my skin tone beautifully, creating an eye-catching contrast before the lens. I intentionally avoided excessive beauty filters to preserve natural skin texture, resulting in a more authentic and tactile finish. The shoot was physically exhausting—sustaining that lazy, effortless demeanor is surprisingly strenuous when balancing relaxed muscles with rigid posing. Still, seeing the final photos made it all worthwhile, capturing both the character's gentle grace and her subtle pride. That wraps up this share of my live convention photos!
