[Black Swan cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail This Custom Design Set is Truly Stunning

This custom design Black Swan cosplay made quite a few attempts with costume materials. The mysterious vibe of the original setting needs to be reinforced through different fabrics, so I specially chose a purple satin fabric with a slight shimmer effect, paired with black matte leather to form a visual layered contrast. The black tulle and cut-out details on the chest are the focal points of the entire outfit, ensuring both the garment's fit and presenting that translucent, hazy texture before the lens. To highlight Black Swan's elegance and allure, the makeup focused on the eye makeup and lip color, using a purple-toned smokey eyeshadow paired with deep red lip color, along with purple circle lenses, making the gaze look more narrative.

For the hair part, a silver-white long curly wig was used. To make it look natural during shooting, trimming and styling the wig took quite a bit of time. The blue-silver headpiece on top was spliced together using acrylic boards and some ready-made metal accessories, and the inner blue paint can refract a gorgeous gloss under the light. As for that floating card talisman, it was actually fixed using a transparent acrylic rod, and the rod was erased in post-processing. During early-stage shooting, continuous angle adjustments were needed to make the prop look as if it were truly floating in the air.

The set design for this shoot specifically chose a modern scene with deep blue tones, combined with a large area of cool-toned light sources and Tyndall effect produced by a smoke machine, aiming to maximize that mysterious atmosphere belonging to Black Swan. The photographer gave a lot of advice regarding light direction, especially the rim light under backlight, capturing the texture of the Black stockings and long boots with high translucency.

Wearing this outfit and striking various poses on a chair actually tests core strength quite a bit. To showcase the lines of the Black stockings and long boots, especially in lying and semi-sitting postures, one must maintain body balance while also taking care of muscle relaxation. The material of this outfit is quite special and prone to reflection under strong light, so during the shoot, constant attention had to be paid to tidying up clothing wrinkles and reflective surfaces. Looking at the resulting photo's light-and-shadow effects and that cool, glamorous feeling carrying a hint of danger, all the early tossing and turning were totally worth it. The charm of custom design lies in being able to incorporate some personal aesthetic understanding on the basis of respecting the soul of the original setting.
