[Sparkle cosplay] Elation in Honkai: Star Rail, Interpreted by Me

Putting on this red-and-white performance outfit, donning the white fox mask, and tying the red string bell around my ankle, the character concept of Sparkle came alive on me. For producing these convention photos, I must thank my wig stylist Lingxi for spending immense effort beforehand to recreate the styling details—especially that fox mask with gold and red patterns, whose visual effect fits the character design perfectly. Meanwhile, photographer Xiaochai successfully isolated the subject using a wide aperture amid the venue's complex lighting and cluttered background, creating a wonderful bokeh effect.

At the time, we chose a relatively open spot at the venue and laid down a white plush rug, providing a comfortable visual focus over the industrial concrete floor background. The costume design actually leaves plenty of room for expressing body movements, so I tried to let loose as much as possible during the shoot. My favorite is the high leg-lift pose in Photo 2; the bell at my ankle made a crisp sound with the movement, and the photographer captured this relaxed yet dynamic moment, showcasing not only the full-body outfit design but also rendering the leg contours and shoe straps beautifully. That psycho girl energy naturally surged while shooting, and having onlookers nearby didn't affect my performance at all.

The close-up in Photo 3 actually captured the moment of swinging the prop gun. Holding the red-and-white toy pistol, combined with our set mess of bangs and fluttering long hair, created a playful yet dangerous aura. The red eye makeup and the two red beauty marks beneath the eye were key highlights of this look, giving the whole face a lively and cunning expression. When making expressions, I deliberately added a touch of provocation and laughter into my gaze, striving to project that confident "I am Elation" attitude.

Photo production at anime conventions is very efficient, but delivering high texture on-site really tests teamwork. Venue lighting was quite complex with many overhead spotlights that easily caused inadequate facial light or messy shadows. Fortunately, Xiaochai patiently adjusted angles on site, and we tested several sets of poses back and forth before finally selecting these photos with the strongest expressiveness. This outfit featuring red and black paneling with gold trim is extremely photogenic under high color contrast, while the ruffle designs on the neckline and cuffs add plenty of youthful charm. Paired with platform wooden-colored high-heeled sandals, it nicely balances center of gravity in both standing and sitting poses.

The part requiring the most thought for this photoset was actually the mask's wearing angle. A half-face-covering style shouldn't obstruct line of sight while still presenting that iconic fox mask feature—a subtle detail that often needs resolving during Sparkle cosplay. Ultimately, we settled on a slightly tilted side-wearing angle, which preserved the character's mystery while allowing direct eye contact with the camera. Looking at the flowing red sleeves and smiling expression beneath the mask in final photos, even though standing for hours on convention day was exhausting, seeing these final results made everything feel totally worth it.

Finally, when portraying a character with such an uninhibited temperament, mindset adjustments are actually even more important than movements. Being a psycho girl doesn't mean over-the-top facial expressions, but rather a completely open, unguarded flamboyant presence that conveys a troublemaking spirit through every frozen frame. Many moments captured in this set represent the unique Envoy of Elation from Honkai: Star Rail that I wanted to recreate and share with fellow fans through Anime-style photography.
