[Komazawa Noi Cosplay] First Attempt at Dynamic Posing in Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Shoot

Flipping through this photo set, I actually feel quite emotional inside. The photographer told me this was his first time capturing such a strong dynamic sense with me—and truly, it felt completely different from my usual style of just standing still and waiting for the shutter. Previously, I always felt my expressiveness in front of the lens was lacking, and I wasn't great at controlling facial expressions; holding a pose for too long often left my face frozen. Stepping out with a try-it-out mindset this time actually delivered a huge, delightful surprise.

To be honest, I was very nervous before cosplaying this character, because Komazawa Noi's traits weren't particularly easy for me to grasp right off the bat. I combed through a lot of original materials, studying her expressions and signature habits. On shooting day, the photographer's guidance proved essential. Instead of scouting backgrounds right away like usual, we warmed up in an open indoor space with a large circular white stage. I originally thought dynamic movement meant big actions like running or jumping, but during actual shooting, I realized that capturing that frozen-in-the-moment pause and sense of balance was the trickiest part.

Take that shot in Photo 3 where I'm standing on one leg with a raised hand—to keep my balance, I actually secretly adjusted my center of gravity several times. The weight of the wig and ears made my head a bit heavy, and combined with the wide detached sleeves, coordinating the sleeve's flowing movement with body balance was harder than imagined. This pink-and-black panel skirt design looks gorgeous, but it can easily block my legs during movement, meaning I had to lift my leg at a specific angle for the effect. Luckily, the photographer snapped quickly enough to freeze what I feel was my most natural instant.

Many people might think animal ears and furry tails are just symbols of sweetness, but making these props look lively and natural during dynamic Cosplay photography requires constant attention to placement. The tail can't droop, and ears must stay upright; exhausting as it was, seeing that sly yet cute look in the final shots made every effort feel totally worth it.

Of course, facial expression control remains my biggest weakness this time. While a few photos turned out with nice expressions, those were truly one-in-a-hundred gems. When shooting that close-up reaching out in a cat paw gesture like in Photo 1, my hand, torso, and head had to coordinate as a single unit—the slightest stiffness made me look rigid in camera. So I deeply admire cosplayers who handle dynamic posing seamlessly; I still need plenty of practice.

Regarding the costume, I absolutely loved this styling combo. The pink and black color-blocking paired with white ruffles and cuffs, plus the waist cinch, leg bands, and platform leather shoes, created a strong unified feel. In particular, the pairing of leg bands and lace socks beautifully showcased leg lines during the one-legged stance—a detail I felt quite satisfied with.

I've always felt cosplay isn't just putting on character clothes and standing in front of a lens; it's whether you can project yourself into that 2D daily life and world at that exact moment. Though my expressiveness might still fall short and facial management needs work, through this dynamic shoot attempt, I feel I've taken a step closer to the character's core. These photos aren't just a set of images, but a fresh step forward on my cosplay journey.

The shooting process itself was pretty standard; without intentionally hunting for complex backgrounds, we relied purely on lighting and posture in a real indoor venue to shape the ambiance. The white circular platform became my mini stage for this animal ear maid performance, letting me express myself freely. Since it was a semi-open space, passersby occasionally walked through; initially I was a bit social-anxious and couldn't loosen up, but once immersed in the shoot, I gradually forgot my surroundings.

Looking back now, that tension of standing on one foot, striving for balance, eyes searching for the lens, and clenching teeth to hold an expression—followed by the joy of seeing those vibrant dynamic frames on the photographer's screen—was truly a special experience. The photographer understood me well, knowing when to press the shutter and when to pause for me to readjust. Without his patient guidance, I might still be stuck in a bottleneck, unsure how to showcase this character's vitality. Even though I consider myself someone lacking expressiveness, I truly saw my own possibilities this time. Next time I cosplay other characters, maybe I can be bolder, trying more dynamic postures, and hopefully handling facial management with greater ease.
