[Jeanne d'Arc cosplay] Fate/Grand Order — A Journey from Ashes to Standing Side by Side

From faith to ashes, and then to standing side by side—this is the core narrative I set for this Fate/Grand Order Jeanne d'Arc cosplay. The shooting location was chosen at a cluster of coastal reefs, where the vast blue sky and coarse rocks perfectly enhanced the visual contrast of coexisting brokenness and purity. The wind was extremely strong on the day of the shoot, which posed quite a challenge for maintaining the wig and clothing, but it also endowed the frames with a powerful sense of dynamism. The flags fluttering in the wind and the swaying blonde hair were captured perfectly, giving the character a more vibrant sense of life.
In terms of styling preparation, Jeanne's dark blue outer robe paired with the metallic chain choker is a crucial part of the recreation. We also prepared an antiqued wooden crucifix and coarse hemp ropes to increase the sense of bondage and realism, rather than using overly delicate props. During the shoot, I first tried a duo flag-raising interaction mode; this side-by-side stance represents a form of trust. Afterward, we moved to the shots where I was bound alone—the process of struggling and finding absolution in front of the crucifix actually demanded a lot in terms of expression control. For post-processing color grading, I specifically chose cool tones with low saturation to bring out the pale feeling after the flames have burned out, while also preserving the original character's holy style.
Honestly, participating in a cosplay with such intense emotional conflict feels more like a spiritual experience to me. The physical sensation of being tightly bound by coarse ropes, combined with the loneliness under the blue sky and white clouds, allowed me to more accurately interpret the character's state of searching for a path to survival amidst despair. This set of works is also very meticulous in its composition and mastery of light and shadow, featuring both visual tension under wide-angle shots and emotional expressions in close-ups. Though the entire process was arduous, the final presentation of transparency and determination feels remarkably complete.
