[Cartethyia Cosplay] Sharing Wuthering Waves Outdoors Under Spring Cherry Blossom Trees

Preparing the makeup, styling, and costume for this Cartethyia Cosplay shoot was actually far more detailed than expected. Starting with the wig: the long, wavy blonde hair absorbed a lot of outdoor light, and it took testing several types of setting sprays to barely keep the blue butterfly hair accessory on top from sagging. The Elf ears cosplay prop was custom-made from silicone, requiring spirit gum along the edges to blend smoothly into the skin. Sitting on the lawn barefoot was slightly prickly from the blades of grass, but abandoning shoes for this specific Cherry blossom outdoor scene was essential to capture the character's natural, ethereal essence.

The sunlight on the shooting day was relatively soft, with most shots taken under tree shade. The photographer utilized a low-angle upward perspective, using cherry blossom branches blurred with a wide aperture alongside a transparent umbrella as a foreground frame. This effectively elongated the leg lines and created distinct depth separation between the subject and the background rather than leaving the subject looking flat. The outfit was custom-tailored; the white petal-shaped collar, black inner layer, and metallic pendant on the chest were crafted from stiffer fabrics to ensure high fidelity to Wuthering Waves character design, giving the outfit sharper three-dimensional structure on camera. For facial makeup, the focus was placed on the blue pupils and the teardrop mole beneath the eye, with foundation applied evenly across limbs so that the skin tones of the legs and face matched seamlessly, saving considerable effort during post-production.

The biggest challenge encountered during this shoot was the heavy foot traffic on the lawn during cherry blossom season, making it difficult to avoid tourists. To wait for clean gaps without passersby, we shot for nearly two hours. Poses were continuously refined, with careful attention paid to natural hand placements since hands play a crucial role in conveying the character's emotion. Post-processing mainly focused on overall color grading—desaturating greens, slightly lowering the exposure of warm yellows, and bringing out a cool, airy Spring atmosphere. Meanwhile, masks were used to enhance the soft-focus effect of foreground blossoms, making the final image resemble a framed illustration. Overall, the shoot yielded a great selection of photos, achieving the desired spring translucency and light textures that faithfully recreated Cartethyia's charm.
