The convention photos for Hsin's second form are finally ready! The lighting on the day of the convention was remarkably cooperative—especially the natural daylight filtering through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which seemed to come with a built-in soft-focus filter.
Regarding the costume, this set provided by Bailu Tuanzi exceeded my expectations in every detail. The overall color palette pairs gold with pale lilac: a golden corset bodice adorned with a black bow tie and a ruby gemstone at the bust, delivering a luxurious, high-end texture. The lilac chiffon robe worn over it offers fantastic drape, allowing the high slit of the skirt to flatter leg contours whenever in motion. The accompanying white plush animal ears are generous in size, detailed with golden patterns and crimson accents; securing them onto the wig required quite a few bobby pins.
I poured substantial effort into the makeup. The eye shadow utilized a heavy pinkish-red diffusion—particularly underneath the lower lids—paired with amber-colored contact lenses to evoke that spirited, subtly enigmatic charm of a spirit fox. The crimson floral bindi mark at the center of the forehead and the hand-painted golden tattoos along the arm were drawn with specialized body paint, demanding extra care throughout the shoot to avoid smudging.
In terms of props, the pocket-watch ornament and the white feathered folding fan elevated the entire ensemble. While posing, I strove to incorporate Hsin's core characteristics—cradling my chin with one hand, half-veiling my face behind the fan, or sitting on the floor to let the skirt's slit elongate visual proportions. Photographer Anai Yeyeye excelled at capturing dynamic moments; under backlighting, the glowing rim light tracing the edges of the white hair stood out vividly, giving the frame an airy, luminous color profile.
Shooting inside the exhibition hall meant navigating heavy crowds, which tested my ability to sustain a focused presence detached from the surrounding noise. Sitting on a white folding chair or leaning against the glass facade, my gaze needed to project a seamless balance of poise, confidence, and languid ease. The high-slit cut placed rigorous demands on posture in both standing and sitting poses, requiring deliberate elongation of bodily lines. Finding clean corners within the hall was an art in itself—we managed to scout a spot against blue tinted glass, whose cool reflection formed a striking chromatic contrast with the warm golden tones of my outfit. Because the wig was exceptionally long, it easily tangled with the sheer fabric of the shawl, requiring patient grooming between takes. The golden patterns trailing down my arm followed muscle contours organically, drawing the eye whenever I raised the fan. Layering these intricate elements together brought the character to life.
From receiving the garment to refining the hair, makeup, and working through poses on set, the entire process was exhausting, yet seeing the finished Cosplay photoshoot made every bit of effort worthwhile. The most enchanting aspect of Convention photos is capturing that serene stillness frozen amidst ambient bustle. This portrayal of Hsin's second form achieved the exact color harmony and tactile presence I had envisioned.
