Regarding this Azur Lane bunny girl styling for Formidable, when preparing the costume and conceiving the scene, I decided to break away from the conventional pure sweet or pure sexy route of bunny girls, focusing more on fitting the character's innate aristocratic aura, melancholy, and sense of aloofness.

To restore these traits, we selected many gothic elements for the outfit. The upper body's white lace chemise and mesh hollow-out design actually place high demands on the fit and silhouette. The sheer white tulle on the shoulders and collar, paired with the black bow tie, creates a strong visual contrast of black and white. The detached ruffled sleeves are a detail I particularly love; the black lace trim at the cuffs perfectly echoes the eye mask. The lower body features high-sheer black stockings with white leg-ring straps. In a dark environment, the reflection of the stockings outlines the leg lines very clearly, which is also the focus of attention for many players.

For the face styling, the black carved lace mask, the massive white bunny ears on top of the head, and the light-colored short hair leave more room for imagination by obscuring a large area of the face. During the shoot, I deliberately avoided bright smiles, naturally lowering my gaze instead. Combined with this cool-toned black-and-white gear, it perfectly releases that cool, quiet atmosphere.

Let's talk about the design of the shooting environment. We specially found a real-scene studio with a dark gothic style. That black high-backed carved chair is the visual anchor of the entire frame—classical and heavy. In the full-perspective second picture, you can see white plaster pillars, withered twisted branches, draping black sheer drapes, an empty birdcage by the feet, and even a dusty photo frame on the ground. Stacking these props together feels like trapping her in an abandoned gothic castle, adding a rich sense of narrative.

The most notable part of this shoot is the planning of the light and shadow. The photographer didn't use conventional flat lighting but instead utilized a strong top light similar to a stage spotlight. A beam of light shines down from above, precisely enveloping the head, bunny ears, shoulders, and crossed legs, thereby forming an extremely strong contrast of light and dark in the frame. This combination of vast darkness and local highlights not only makes the white lace and bunny ears more eye-catching but also beautifully magnifies the skin texture and the stockings' luster. In post-production color grading, we deliberately maintained a low saturation for the overall image, keeping black, white, and gray as the main tones, resolutely avoiding high-saturation color blocks, hoping to maintain this cool and aloof texture to the very end.

During this outdoor shoot, changing outfits, adjusting angles, and finding the perfect light took quite some time—especially adjusting the neck bow tie and the mask's tightness to a comfortable position while ensuring the delicate lace details at the edges weren't ruined. However, seeing the final photos brought a great sense of achievement. That slightly oppressive yet mysterious visual tension fits the character's temperament perfectly. This set of work is mainly about showing our thoughtful planning of costumes, makeup, props, and ambient light in cosplay.
