[Furina cosplay] Genshin Impact Firefly ACG Expo Day 2: This Denim Skirt and Stockings Combo Looks So Great on Camera

For Day 2 of the Firefly ACG Expo, my chosen character was Furina from Genshin Impact. Today, I'd like to share some authentic photoshoot experiences and behind-the-scenes details. The convention hall was packed, and the lighting was rather chaotic with harsh overhead lights that could easily cause blown-out highlights or heavy shadows. So, we intentionally sought out a dark backdrop and paired it with a primary key light for focused, directional lighting—and the result turned out surprisingly amazing. The wig features a white-to-blue gradient and the hair fibers are very soft, but shaping that signature arched curve at the crown along with the deep blue hair accessory beside it took quite a bit of effort, requiring plenty of setting spray to keep in place. Regarding the outfit, I picked a denim suspender skirt paired with a white collared shirt. The front of the skirt features white lace-up ties with a distressed hem, giving it a strong casual, everyday vibe that was ideal for walking around the convention halls for hours. To add visual depth and match the character's aesthetic, I wore over-the-knee Stockings and black platform Martin boots with silver chain accents. Walking in thick boots all day is genuinely exhausting, but to honor this Genshin Impact cosplay and achieve the best visuals, I powered through it. For posing, photographer NightDiva prepared a plush mat on the gray floor so I could comfortably sit down to shoot. Out of this set, my favorite shot is the last one where I sit sideways on the mat with my legs stretched out, as it best flatters the lines of the over-the-knee Stockings and boots while elongating leg proportions. Furthermore, the framing of the sixth photo places the subject squarely in the center rather than at the edges, free from any distracting text watermarks, keeping the overall composition clean and crisp. During the session, the photographer and I constantly tweaked our angles to avoid unwanted background elements, since bokeh still reveals clutter from other booths and we had to steer clear of messy light patches. After squeezing through the crowds to finish this shoot, sweat had slightly dampened my shirt collar, but fortunately, the final interplay of light and shadow turned out great. For makeup, I chose light blue contact lenses to give my gaze a clearer look, and contoured my eye makeup more deeply to complement the white-and-blue gradient styling, making it pop under the cool venue lights. Convention venue lighting is ever-changing, and a Genshin Impact character relies heavily on subtle details; the soft gradient at the hair tips looked beautifully dimensional in low light. This photo set serves primarily as a personal record of my cosplay journey this time. Although the shoot was tiring, seeing the light fall just right across the texture of the skirt hem and Stockings made every bit of effort worth it. Because our lighting and poses were well-coordinated on set, we avoided over-retouching, mostly preserving authentic skin texture and fabric weave. Given the chance in the future, I'd love to try shooting again in dim, moody settings to bring out that contrast with the character—and casual interpretations of Genshin Impact characters are always a fantastic choice. All in all, it was a delightful convention shoot experience with a smooth workflow and no major hiccups. Here's hoping for more seamless collaborations with great photographers next time!
