After wrapping up this Remielle cosplay photoshoot, the most immediate physical sensations were sore arm muscles and a stiff smile from holding expressions for so long.
Let's start with the Bubble tea props that everyone notices first. Those three cups of milk tea were actual real drinks, and with the boba pearls inside, they were quite heavy. During shooting, not only did the movements need to look natural, but there was also a specific logic: the cup with the straw in my mouth had to cover part of my facial contour just right without obscuring too much, an angle we had to search for multiple times. Holding a cup in each hand, my arms couldn't be stiff and my shoulders had to stay relaxed, otherwise my overall posture would look tense. Because of the pure white background and white outfit, light hitting the plastic cups produced reflections, requiring dedicated post-processing to clean up distracting glare. I couldn't actually swallow the Bubble tea in my mouth either—I had to hold it until the shot was done, swapping straws three or four times before capturing the perfect state.
Regarding costume prep: this outfit features a corset and lace-up strap design. To better fit the character's curves, I wore a waist cincher underneath before shooting. Combining white tulle, lace, and translucent streamers, the fabrics were very delicate, requiring extreme care when styling to avoid snags. The wig on my head was custom-trimmed short pink hair, with the front bangs and side lengths finely adjusted to make the face appear smaller. Putting on the elf ears required careful positioning; if the angle was off, they looked like horns growing out of the head rather than ears, so it took quite a while to test. The long white gloves and over-the-knee White stockings with bows were prone to overexposure against the pure white backdrop, so the photographer repeatedly adjusted reflectors to balance contrast, ensuring the shadow details on the legs didn't blow out into pure white.
The main difficulty during shooting was coordinating expressions with body language. Although Remielle has an angelically light appearance, her eyes carry a hint of liveliness and tsundere charm—this contrast is crucial. Holding props in both hands with a straw in my mouth while keeping my gaze locked onto the lens was a real test of muscle memory. During breaks, my face felt stiff from holding expressions for so long, and I had to massage my cheeks and sip water to relax. The pair of translucent iridescent wings actually had some weight to them, especially mounted on the back; standing for a long time made my shoulders ache, but to maintain an upright, poised posture, I had to keep my back completely straight in front of the camera.
As for the post-processing approach, the focus was on maintaining a low-contrast, high-key translucent feel throughout. The pink, white, and blue palette is very soothing; skin smoothing had to be restrained to preserve natural texture, and the lace trims and leg garters of the dress couldn't be warped during retouching. Although the shoot was physically demanding and took up most of the afternoon, being able to faithfully capture this Young girl character's aura made the experience very rewarding.
