Preparing this black outfit for Zenless Zone Zero's Remielle was easily our most complete fusion of pink hair and a dark gothic aesthetic. Since we plan to turn this into a series, for Vol. 1 we went all out on garment textures first.

The wig was cut with defined layers and wispy bangs to complement the black ribbon bow and star-shaped hairpins on the head. For makeup, I wore reddish-brown contact lenses paired with pinkish-red eye shadows and a deep red lip, crafting an overall cool, glamorous look.

The costume is truly the centerpiece of this styling. On the outside is a corset and skirt made of black patent leather layered over a white shirt collar, with black mesh patchwork along the arms and ruffled cuffs. For the lower half, I paired it with black stockings, garter loops, and chunky black platform high heels. The patent leather reflects light sharply while the mesh introduces sheer allure, requiring constant adjustments to our camera angles during the shoot to avoid overly harsh glares.

The set design took considerable effort. We hauled vintage televisions into the studio and stacked them up, leaving the screens in a muted greenish-gray tone. The area was surrounded by phalaenopsis orchids, peonies, and chrysanthemums, with a patterned rug strewn with black feathers on the floor. The lighting combined interwoven shades of pink and blue, casting warm-and-cold contrasts across both character and televisions. A vintage radio served as an accent prop, adding a nostalgic touch to close-up shots.

The shoot itself was quite physically demanding. The photos feature crouching, seated, and lying poses. While crouching, one hand rested on the TV set to keep my balance steady. In the seated shot, my legs were crossed to highlight the silhouette of the stockings, with the forward tilt of my chest and waist angled precisely to match the lens. The photo lying on the rug was a top-down shot framed by black feathers and pink peonies, requiring careful control over facial expressions to avoid looking stiff. Wearing heels for so long made my feet ache, but I had to power through for the sake of the visual effect.

The positioning of the radio and TVs was meticulously planned so as not to block the flowers or overshadow the main subject. Every press of the shutter involved dialing in the lighting ratio and composition. The final shots turned out largely as envisioned—the texture of the patent leather and the clean lines of the legs in stockings stood out nicely under the pink and blue lighting. We will continue shooting other looks for this character moving forward; this Vol. 1 serves as a solid start and provided valuable experience in handling reflective materials and complex sets.
