The free-pass cosplay photo sharing from the Hangzhou Dreamland Anime Convention is finally organized. Running around the venue halls from morning till night took a huge physical toll, but being able to produce so many sets of photos across different styles gives a real sense of accomplishment.

The first outfit was a dark blue sleeveless cheongsam; the fabric featured jacquard woven patterns that subtly shifted in sheen under the exhibition hall's ceiling lights. I paired it with sheer, lightweight gauze arm sleeves myself so that lifting my arms for poses would carry an airy, flowing feel. The hair was styled in a simple updo complemented by floral accents and beaded tassel pendants, leaning toward a cool and elegant demeanor overall. For shooting, I found a spot beside a booth equipped with studio lights, utilizing background blur to accentuate facial contours.

The second red dress had the strongest visual impact. To coordinate with the plush animal ears and tail, the makeup leaned heavier on blush and eyeshadow blending. The prop pole adorned with tassels and bells actually had some weight to it; when sitting on the chair crossing my legs to pose, I had to use arm strength to control it so it appeared effortless. When rim lighting hit from the side and rear, the gold thread embroidery on the skirt hem was remarkably prominent.

The blue-and-white outfit was packed with details, particularly the layering of the gloves and the light blue gauze at the waist. To showcase the cut of the skirt hem, I chose a seated posture on the floor, spreading out a white plush rug. The photographer shot from an overhead angle, which not only fully displayed the skirt hem but also used ground reflections to softly bounce light back onto the face. The fan half-covering the face was attempted multiple times to find an angle that showed the gaze without obstructing the face.

The light blue Lolita style set was accessorized with blue cat-ear hairpieces and yellow scrunchies. The bells and ruffled design were very cute. While taking photos, I tried leaning forward, lightly veiling my lips with my fingers to match the flared skirt hem. The movement amplitude for this look couldn't be too large, otherwise the distortion of the petticoat hoop would look unnatural.

The fifth set featured a white, purple, and gold ancient style; the hair crown and necklace added up to noticeable weight, requiring composed and steady posture. Extended hand gestures needed to avoid stiffness, controlling both the wrist's rise and fall and the curvature of the fingers.

The final set paired a white dress with white stockings, adding a black rabbit plushie as a compositional element. The ambient lighting was relatively dim; to ensure emotional delivery, I avoided exaggerated poses, opting instead for a curled-up sitting posture focused on conveying expression through the eyes. Matching the stockings with the leg rings required careful attention to the edges so they wouldn't create noticeable squeeze marks.

Free-pass shooting at anime conventions is truly a test of endurance—changing multiple outfits and makeups over a single day while quickly finding suitable backdrops within complex venue lighting. Still, collaborating with different photographers to capture oneself from diverse angles makes for an enriching experience. Each outfit's material and silhouette differ, calling for varied adjustments in body language. The venue for this shoot was quite spacious, and the industrial lines in the background along with the hall's signature lighting fixtures were preserved in the final shots.

Looking back at these photos brings back memories of the crowds and air-conditioned chill inside the venue that day. That wraps up this batch for now; the photos are still being retouched gradually, and I look forward to trying fresh style combinations at the next anime convention.
