The photo shoot for this Aqua Angel look is finally wrapped! To authentically recreate Marin Kitagawa's iconic look from My Dress-Up Darling, the entire preparation—from early costume selection and test makeup to shoot day—took roughly two weeks.

The wig was custom-made with a golden-to-pink gradient. To create natural, layered dimensions, I invested substantial effort into trimming and styling. The bangs needed that light, airy wispy texture, and the pink dip-dye at the tips couldn't be too harsh—it had to look as if it were gently peeking through from beneath the inner strands. As for makeup, since Marin's eyes are so distinctive, I specially chose pinkish-red contact lenses. The eye makeup emphasized the droop and aegyo-sal, softly blended over a wide area with pastel pink and accented with subtle glitter to make the eyes look more spirited. The foundation aimed for fair yet luminous skin, so generous setting spray was used to maintain translucent freshness throughout the shoot. The lip color was a dewy peach gloss that gave a healthy, vibrant complexion.

For the Aqua Angel wardrobe, the primary palette is light blue and white. I deliberately selected a shirt fabric with an elegant drape, paying close attention to the delicate pleating along the collar and cuffs. The white knit vest has a relaxed silhouette, perfectly veiling the corners of the shirt. The lace choker around my neck and the headband on my hair serve as crowning accents, with the blue bow tying harmoniously into the overall color scheme. The pleated skirt features a classic plaid pattern. Additionally, the thigh strap garter and the lace-ruffled ankle socks (White stockings) added a touch of flirtatious charm, staying true to Marin's everyday fashion aesthetic.

The venue was set in a Japanese-style room equipped with venetian blinds. The natural light filtering through the blinds produced genuinely breathtaking chiaroscuro effects, with geometric light stripes adding rich textural depth to the frame. I spread a red-and-white checkered throw blanket and vintage-patterned cushions across the bed, scattering several plushies matching the look beside them to inject domestic warmth and playfulness. During the session, I tried holding my smartphone to pretend to take a selfie; the side-profile seated pose showcased the skirt's hemline and leg contours beautifully. Raising my other hand slightly with fingers curved naturally, my gaze carried a blend of self-confidence and mischief, striving to channel Marin's outgoing, highly energetic demeanor.

The second shot was captured with a slightly wider focal length, with panda and bunny plushies resting on the bed, alongside an electric fan, a guitar, and wall posters visible in the room background. This environmental staging lends the photos an authentic narrative texture, like candid moments recorded inside an everyday bedroom. During takes, I continuously adjusted my body orientation to let the sun highlight my collarbones and side profile, accentuating dimensional contours. To keep my leg lines looking smooth and elongated, I did gentle stretches during shooting breaks to maintain a relaxed physical state.

Overall, the focus of this photoshoot was anchored on mastering costume nuances and leveraging ambient lighting. Rather than rigid posing, I prefer this relaxed, spontaneous approach that captures both character personality and sartorial craftsmanship. Marin is such a vibrant character, which required maintaining full, lively emotional energy in my expressions throughout. This session gave me deeper insight into anime-style portrait photography, and I hope these photos successfully convey the radiant aura of the Aqua Angel.
