This photoshoot featured the Lily of the Valley Waltz look for Lynette from Genshin Impact. To capture a ballet dancer's airy lightness, we chose classical garden arches and a red carpet for the set, flanked on both sides by abundant blue-violet hydrangeas. The lighting mainly utilized backlighting with a slight soft focus added, which softened the subject's contours as if enveloped in a gentle halo. Clothing-wise, the texture of the white-to-cyan-green gradient skirt was fantastic; paired with black tulle on the back, and the White stockings with criss-cross strappy platform shoes on my feet, it perfectly elongated my leg proportions, achieving a well-balanced visual center of gravity.
During makeup, the wig and makeup were adjusted back and forth for quite some time, as this styling aimed for a slightly languid yet exquisitely refined aesthetic. The eyebrows needed to be drawn softly, with eye makeup focusing more on elongating the outer corners—communicative eyes were key to this photo set. When posing, the coordination between gaze and movement was critical. The shot with open eyes looking downward gave off a cool detachment; the shot with closed eyes (the one chosen as the cover) felt quieter and more intoxicated. Upon comparison, the closed-eyes state better suited the outfit's vibe, while the lines of the legs were layered nicely against the skirt.
During the shoot, special attention had to be paid to the smoothness of the skirt and stockings, as this material's light reflection is very subtle—even slight wrinkles would compromise the texture. Furthermore, controlling one's center of gravity for this pose was extremely demanding: to appear effortless, it actually required engaging the calves and core. My muscles ached after shooting for just a bit; to keep our postures steady, we chatted a lot about our favorite singers while touching up makeup between takes. In post-processing, contrast was lowered, the transition between highlights and shadows was smoothed, and the sheer translucency of the tulle was preserved. Facial lighting was also brightened, keeping the entire image immersed in a gentle, non-aggressive clarity. The red of the carpet was the deepest tone in the frame, anchoring the ethereal feel and adding stability.
The red carpet was a bit slippery underfoot on the shooting day, which, coupled with platform shoes, meant being constantly careful to keep my balance—a minor interlude during this shoot. What took the most thought throughout this session was refining the movements; communicating with the photographer was vital, capturing candid moments by constantly shifting angles to achieve this natural state. This synergy combining classical garden aesthetics with anime character styling was beautifully realized in this shoot, making it a truly delightful collaborative experience.
