I've finally captured this photoshoot set for 37 from Reverse: 1999, focusing on her concepts of infinity and prime numbers. The set design was much more complex than expected, but the final result truly fits the character's distant yet resolute aura.
The blue hair cosplay wig used this time was specially customized. To restore that fluffy wave texture, I added a thick braid on one side so that even with a large volume of hair, it wouldn't look overly heavy or overwhelm the face. For makeup, I deliberately chose a clean, translucent base, combining low-saturation earth tones with light-colored contact lenses to soften facial contours, hoping to present an almost non-human yet divinely ethereal texture. To ease the physical burden during shooting, the collar around my neck and metal arm accessories were made of lightweight alloy, yet they still look substantially heavy in the finished photos.
The outfit is made of off-white draping fabric with a loose cut resembling an ancient Greek chiton style, focusing on fluid comfort rather than emphasizing body curves. The design language is very restrained; geometric decorations on the chest and skirt hem alongside irregular pattern splicing perfectly mirror her character's obsession with structure and logic. Furthermore, going barefoot and wearing a delicate gold anklet are crucial details of this look, reflecting a pristine, unrestrained lightness.
The set design drew inspiration from mythical temple elements—white plaster Roman columns, multi-tiered staggered steps, hollowed-out railings, and angel statues standing silently on both sides. What satisfied me most was the geometric stained-glass window in the background; light filtered through those irregular color blocks into the scene, adding a warm yet dreamy undertone to the overall cool white palette.
During Cosplay photography, we intentionally chose low-saturation hard light to create a calm, sacred atmosphere. Communication with photographer WiFi was very smooth; his mastery over color was exceptionally precise, seamlessly blending the complex set with the character's disposition. Beyond constantly adjusting the wig's drape and flow, the biggest challenge during the shoot was capturing that paradoxical aura of a "prisoner in the cave" and a "returning sage"—trying to convey a gaze that has seen through the world while retaining childlike innocence.
The metaphor about prime number sequences in her character lore carries strong philosophical meaning: infinitely many prime numbers form an infinite sequence, and every single one of us is within it. During this shoot, I kept savoring this lonely yet proud emotion, attempting to subtly convey that paradoxical feeling through fluid body postures.
For post-processing color grading, we unified the tones to achieve an intensely cold yet internally resonant effect. In the shots sitting on the steps flipping through a book, the book served as a crucial visual prop; during the shoot, I specifically adjusted my gaze and arm angles to construct an immersed reading posture. The skirt edges easily spread out, so we constantly used clips to fix and conceal them on set—while the final photos look seamless and fluid, only I know the meticulous adjustments made behind the scenes. Nonetheless, restoring a character possessing such calm, rational aesthetics and visualising her understanding of infinity before the lens was a truly pure creative experience in Anime cosplay.
