[Shenhe Cosplay] Genshin Impact Photoshoot: Screens, Red Umbrellas, and Silver Hair with a Cold Face - Image 2

For this official cosplay photoshoot of the Genshin Impact character Shenhe, the focus of this shoot was primarily placed on color contrast and the elongated expression of the limbs.

In terms of costume preparation, a lot of thought went into fabric selection for this black, cyan, and gold color-schemed outerwear. To present a silky yet somewhat rigid texture under soft light, dark-patterned fabric was specifically chosen, paired with fine gold thread embroidery textures to restore the layering of the character's costume in both close-ups and full-body perspectives. The legs were specially paired with golden metal rings and black patent leather high heels, which served to visually elongate the body and stabilize the center of gravity throughout the lying posture composition.

The set construction is another highlight of this photo set. We abandoned outdoor shooting with deep depth of field and instead used wooden lattice screens as the background base indoors. Two red oil-paper umbrellas with white flowers were scattered diagonally across the frame, breaking the monotony of the single white bedsheet and wood-colored screens. Some white simulated plant leaves were also added to the foreground to blur the edges, enriching the screen's sense of depth. At the same time, the combination of red, white, black, and gold colors is visually clean and carries a strong traditional Chinese style outfit impact.

The pose design during the shoot selected a highly expressive lying posture. The camera captured the shot from a diagonal overhead angle, utilizing the natural lines of the human body to form a diagonal composition. A lying posture actually demands high control over hair arrangement and facial expression, requiring the long silver-gray wig to spread out naturally while keeping the detailed movements of the hands relaxed and natural to avoid stiffness. The design of fingers lightly touching the cheek, combined with the eye makeup outlined in red eyeshadow, allowed the gaze to maintain a sharp demeanor rather than a delicate weakness when looking up at the camera.

In terms of lighting, a wide range of high-key soft light was adopted this time, without creating overly deep shadows, which better highlights the fairness of the skin and the cool tones of the costume. The overall brightness of the shooting environment was relatively high. This style of lighting, similar to a photography studio, is actually perfect for expressing the icy, pure, and stainless cool temperament of the character. The red of the oil-paper umbrellas is an exceptionally vibrant color in a pure white environment; it serves not just as a prop in composition and shooting, but moreover as a vehicle to guide the eyesight.

Regarding the control of restoring the character's temperament, I tried my best to avoid overly sweet visual effects, instead leaning toward conveying 'clearness' and 'aloofness.' From the metal details of the hair accessories to the ornaments at the waist, and further to the overall costume tailoring, I tried to keep the lines crisp and smooth. Although taking photos in such a lying posture requires the body to maintain a relatively restricted position for a long time during the shoot, it heavily tests the model's control over bodily relaxation. To better showcase the character's traits, the entire makeup look did not heap on too many colors, instead focusing on preserving the high contrast between white and red, allowing the character's face to be captured at a glance in the frame.

The overall shooting experience was very pleasant. This combination of scene and costume perfectly expressed that independent, quiet atmosphere inherent in the character's setting. This style of photoshoot with a light atmosphere is also something I've enjoyed experimenting with recently, and I hope this Genshin Impact Shenhe cosplay photoshoot can bring everyone a different visual experience through Anime-style photography.
