This set features a self-styled custom design for a Firefly swimsuit. To align with the theme of Summer water play while retaining the character's inherent lightness, I dedicated ample thought to wardrobe coordination. For the top, I selected a semi-sheer white long-sleeved cover-up adorned with colorful stars and delicate floral prints, which offered sun protection while elevating visual layering. The bottoms consisted of mint green ruffle-trimmed swim shorts layered with delicate gossamer tulle, accented at the waist with charming yellow-and-white daisy ornaments. The wig was styled with gentle water-wave curls, paired with aquatic blue-green fin hair ornaments and matching colored contact lenses; the makeup emphasized luminous blush and dewy transparency, steering the entire look toward an agile, breezy aesthetic for this Firefly cosplay.
The weather on the day of the shoot was phenomenal, with brilliant sunlight pouring straight down onto the water surface, casting a dreamy, sparkling ripple effect. To accommodate diverse above-water and in-water scenes for our Poolside photoshoot, I prepared an inflatable paddleboard and an iridescent fish-scale patterned swim ring as key props. Kneeling gracefully upon the paddleboard not only flattered my leg contours but also conveyed a relaxed, effortless state. Gripping the long black paddle formed a striking contrast of light and shadow against the pastel blue surroundings, adding rich visual layers to the candid captures. When shooting backlit, the sunlight framed me in a radiant halo, illuminating the flyaway fringes of my hair while even the fine water mist along the poolside caught the gleam, elevating the atmosphere to the absolute max.
The location was Wandao Camp Cafe, which offered exceptionally clean outdoor water, with surrounding lush foliage and palm trees providing an organic, idyllic backdrop. Kicking water in the shallow area was captured dynamically; the instant droplets splashed up to refract the sunlight looked remarkably lifelike during our Summer water play. Photographer Lizi was fantastic at capturing chiaroscuro nuances and fluid motion, seamlessly blending the glittering water ripples with my splashing gestures—so much so that the straight-out-of-camera raw cuts already possessed rich, vibrant saturation. The overarching color palette centered on blue, green, and white; paired with intense natural light, it radiated a crisp summer aura without requiring heavy post-processing. The fish-scale texture on the float ring also sparkled delicately under the sun, enhancing subtle textural details.
This custom creation primarily explored an aesthetic balancing casual everyday charm with water sports practicality, preserving the core essence of the character from Honkai: Star Rail while infusing personal styling preferences. Throughout the shoot, I continually calibrated the relationship between bodily posture and illumination, fine-tuning the tilt angle of the paddleboard and the arc of my water kicks to achieve the most organic state. I am thoroughly delighted with the finished photos, and the luminous reflections on the water truly elevated the entire visual presentation!
