[Sparkle Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Expressing What Joy Means at the iJoy Anime Convention

Cosplaying Sparkle at the iJoy anime convention this time was probably one of my most labor-intensive set of convention photos recently. From trimming and styling the wig to the wearing angle of the mask, and then to those complex brocade patterns on the costume and wide detached sleeves, I wanted every detail to stay as close as possible to the playful and flashy nature in her lore setting. During shooting, we specifically found an indoor area with a glass railing where light was soft enough to nicely outline the layers of the red-black-gold color palette. That pose sitting on the white plush rug was meant to capture the character's lazy yet playfully mocking vibe; stepping barefoot on the rug, the red polish on my toes stayed consistent with the overall red dominant tone. The fox mask is a soul accessory—holding it in hand or wearing it on top instantly switches on that sly "mastermind behind the scenes" feel. The red cherry blossom tattoo sticker on my collarbone was also specially selected to echo the floral elements on the outfit. As for props, that small hand-waving flag looked extremely effective in close-up shots.

The convention venue was actually quite noisy, but once I entered shooting mode, I completely immersed myself in this character's emotions—aiming precisely for that unpredictable, drama-filled feeling. Because this outfit has large floating sleeves, they blow with the wind when moving, but this also added quite a bit of difficulty to the shoot, requiring constant attention to avoid wrinkles or blocking. Post-processing refrained from overly exaggerated filters, preserving the realism of skin tones and costume textures, which I feel offers a better sense of "being on location." Although my feet felt a bit ticklish stepping on the plush rug during shooting, I'm very satisfied with the final photos—the sheen of light hitting the red silk and the texture of the dark belt were preserved wonderfully. Honestly, cosplaying such high-saturation, element-dense characters easily turns messy if not careful; thus, I simplified my makeup, focusing on highlighting pink contact lenses in my eyes and red dots on my cheeks to keep the visual focus centered on the face. The composition where I lay sideways resting my chin on my hand is one I personally really love—it exudes a cynical, relaxed tension as if saying, "everything is under my control." Anime conventions aren't just for taking pictures, but also a space to connect with fellow fans; bringing this character to reality in my own way is a joy in itself. Lastly, the cost performance and comfort of this cosplay gear were actually pretty good—aside from slightly heavy sleeves, overall movement wasn't overly restricted, making it a relatively agile gear set for convention photos.
