Shooting this Chasing Light-themed photoshoot of Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail took nearly a month from initial preparation to final images. To perfectly embody that unyielding trait of Chasing Light even amidst solitary darkness as shared in the caption, I did extensive research on the wardrobe and set design for this Firefly cosplay.
First, let's talk about the costume details. The overall palette is a blend of white and green, weaving sheer tulle and delicate lace textures together. The skirt features an extravagant multi-layered construction, requiring constant attention when walking and sitting to keep from pressing creases into the fabric. Metallic butterflies and gem ornaments adorn the chest and waist, while the choker is draped with cascading pearl chains—delicate touches that catch and scatter soft glints of light before the lens. I trimmed the wig beforehand, keeping the blunt bangs and long framing sideburns faithful to her original canon design. The hairpieces feature light-blue leaves and butterflies, harmonizing with the costume's colors. To enhance the airy weightlessness of the look, I dialed back facial color saturation, emphasizing purple-blue contact lenses and a translucent base, with a touch of deeper blush across the cheeks to add an otherworldly fragility and ethereal charm to this Anime cosplay.
Next, about the studio set dressing. To craft an ambiance blending snowy wonder with an enchanted forest, we laid down a thick white plush carpet, building the background with oversized styrofoam snowflake props and white sheer drapes, while colorful diamond sequins hung suspended overhead. The wicker egg hanging chair I sat in was draped with light-blue chiffon and green vines; sitting inside required keeping my spine upright and crossing my legs to preserve the flared elegance of the skirt and visually elongate my leg lines. In this shoot, showcasing leg lines was a core focus. I wore white Stockings patterned with subtle butterfly jacquard, paired with semi-translucent ribbon straps and shoes adorned with pearl bows—a combination in this Stockings cosplay that not only echoed the fairy-like aesthetic, but also visually sculpted leg contours. While posing, I deliberately adjusted my posture using the support of the hanging chair, bending one leg slightly while letting the other drape naturally along the edge, catching rim lighting from the side to accentuate the texture of the Stockings and leg silhouettes.
For props, I prepared a wicker flower basket brimming with pale pink roses alongside a bundle of fluffy white cotton, slightly softening the cool tones of the scene while introducing a hint of organic vitality. The most grueling aspect throughout the shoot was maintaining composed facial expressions in the chilly environment while channeling that lonely yet resolute gaze of Chasing Light. By fine-tuning my ocular focus and working with the soft face-framing fringe of the wig, I was thrilled with the final imagery. Both the set construction and fabric textures lived up to every expectation; I hope this photoshoot faithfully conveys that delicate balance of hopeful warmth and ethereal coolness to everyone!
