This time, the shoot features Cyrene from Honkai: Star Rail, and the entire makeup, styling, and props were made by myself, carving out details bit by bit. The pink gradient wig used a splicing of two wigs, and the curvature of the hair strands was adjusted many times to finally present this fluffy yet natural flow. The silver patterns and purple gem patches on the white battle suit were hand-stitched, and paired with a translucent sheer shawl, it beautifully restores the character's lightweight yet somewhat sacred temperament.
What took the most thought was this bow and arrow. The feather section utilized a layering of multiple materials, starting from a transient EVA foam base to the outer layer of gradient sheer tulle. Each feather was individually colored and shaped, and the grip was inlaid with tiny rhinestones that reflect a rainbow halo under the light. For the shoot, we chose this studio scene featuring a golden birdcage and stained glass windows. The background's sheer curtains and butterfly props perfectly fit Cyrene's dreamy style atmosphere.
I also communicated repeatedly with the team regarding the photography and post-processing, hoping to express both the character's softness and sense of power at the same time. The combination of a white base with pink and purple tones highly tested exposure control, needing to keep the skin tone translucent while ensuring that the details of the props and costume wouldn't be lost during this Cosplay photography session. I'm quite satisfied with the overall result this time, especially the moment when the ribbons fluttered as I drew the bow; we took dozens of dynamic candid shots just to pick the most natural one.
The happiest part of doing cosplay is being able to bring a beloved 2D character from the screen into reality. Every time I put on the outfit, it feels like a conversation with the character. If you're interested in the costume structure or the fine details of prop-making, feel free to exchange ideas and discuss together. After all, behind every set of work is a full creative process.
