For this sleepwear Roxy photoshoot, the main goal was to capture that endearing contrast between her spacey airheadedness and quiet composure in daily life. A great deal of thought went into pre-production to evoke that subtle vibe. First was the light blue wig: Roxy's signature braided twin tails and that quintessential ahoge tuft on top really put my styling skills to the test. The wig couldn't look too dense or heavy, so while braiding, I gently loosened the sections to give it a soft, fluffy, and lightweight silhouette. The ahoge on top was shaped repeatedly with a blow dryer and hairspray so that it flicked upward naturally rather than looking like a stiff, glued spike.
For makeup, I selected luminous blue contact lenses with soft outer rings to ensure her gaze never looked harsh or aggressive. The eye makeup was kept minimalist—using low-saturation neutral bases with a subtly straight, innocent liner at the outer corners, focusing entirely on clean, well-defined lashes. This helped portray her signature distracted yet earnest look, where she seems to be looking right at you while lost in her own thoughts. The foundation was kept sheer and natural to preserve genuine skin texture, since wearing heavy makeup in loungewear at home would feel artificial.
The costume was a pure white camisole slip dress featuring ruffled trims, crafted from an ultra-soft fabric with fluid drape that immediately conveyed relaxed comfort. We shot in a clean white studio accented by a woven rattan chair and a round plush rug, establishing an airy, pristine mood. Going barefoot added genuine warmth and homely comfort, since the natural resting posture of toes sinking into a soft rug simply can't be faked.
The poses were mostly unforced, focusing on what felt naturally comfortable. Sitting leaned slightly forward with hands folded across my knees conveyed a well-behaved, slightly timid presence; leaning back into the chair while idly twirling the braids across my chest with legs stretched forward brought out relaxed languor. The photographer kept encouraging me to drop my shoulders and feel as though I were lounging in my own room. The tactile comfort of the plush rug helped me unwind, so the lens could capture effortless, candid moments. The photographer utilized soft high-key lighting that eliminated harsh shadows, yielding an ethereal, luminous clarity that I fell in love with. A minimalist setup like this directs full visual attention onto the subject's emotional resonance. The final set turned out just as I envisioned Roxy: taking a break after studying at her desk, zoning out lazily in a chair. Although it is a simple loungewear outfit, every polished detail brought the character to life, and I hope everyone can enjoy this quiet slice of Roxy's everyday life.
