[Roxy cosplay] The sailor suit outfit girl in South China Botanical Garden

Earlier this year, I went to the South China Botanical Garden to shoot a Roxy cosplay photoset. Today, I finally finished retouching the pictures and wanted to share the shooting experience at that time. To restore this styling, I prepared a light purple long wig, specially braided two thick braids, left a signature ahoge on top of the head, and matched it with thin-rimmed round glasses. The clothing chosen was an off-white loose knitted sweater, paired with a dark blue sailor-collared shirt inside, and a grayish-blue bow tied at the neckline. The lower body featured a black pleated short skirt, white over-the-knee stockings, paired with a pair of black chunky-heeled leather shoes, carrying a black leather handbag in hand with a few plush toys hanging as accents to add a bit of daily life feel.
The outdoor venue of the South China Botanical Garden is very large, and we went there early in the year taking advantage of the good weather. The lighting in the cactus area inside the greenhouse was particularly translucent, filtering down through the glass roof, casting soft and natural light and shadows. To match the desert plant background, I tried sitting on scattered artificial rockery stones with my legs crossed; this not only utilized the visual effect of the skirt hem and over-the-knee stockings to elongate the leg lines, but also made the picture composition fuller. When shooting on outdoor tree-lined paths and wooden boardwalks, sunlight filtered through the leaves to form mottled light and shadow. When the wind blew, both the wig and the skirt hem fluttered, and I frequently needed to use my hand to tidy up the hair strands at my temples, which instead added a bit of vivid aura to the candid moments. There was a large patch of water lilies by the pond; standing on the lawn holding the bag gave off an everyday atmosphere of passing by a pond after school. The outdoor sunlight was very intense on the day of the shoot, which was a considerable test for the longevity of the outdoor makeup, requiring frequent checks on whether makeup was fading around the nose and forehead halfway through.
Although this combination of sweater and sailor suit outfit was relatively thick, making me sweat after shooting for a while in the greenhouse, the texture of the sweater looked ideal through the lens. Different areas of the botanical garden provided completely different colors, ranging from the emerald green of the tropical rainforest to the warm yellow of the cactus area, and the deep blue of the waterscape, allowing multiple environmental changes within a single set of photos. I quite like this kind of cosplay experience of capturing the character's state in a natural environment, because there will be many uncontrollable factors, such as lighting changes, sudden breezes, or the gaze of passersby, all of which make the entire shooting process more interesting. The photographer and I had great tacit understanding, and we kept trying different angles. This shoot also accumulated a lot of experience in finding reflectors and fill light angles under complex natural light. For friends who like outdoor shoots, the botanical garden is truly a shooting location that can continuously provide surprises.
