[Roxy Cosplay] MengKa 2025 Convention Photos of the Mushoku Tensei Wizard

I've finally organized these convention photos from the MengKa 2025 Back-to-School Season Anime Convention. This time I cosplayed Roxy Migurdia from Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. Throughout the entire shoot, from makeup and styling to scene setup and seamless coordination with the photographer, everything was a fresh experience that helped me gain plenty of hands-on experience in cosplay photography at anime conventions.

For this Roxy cosplay, what I cared about most regarding the outfit was its overall sense of layering. The white shirt paired with a dark corset required repeated adjustments to align the gold crisscross ribbons across the chest without skewing. The light khaki cape drapes beautifully when spread out, but walking around the convention hall required extra care to prevent passersby from stepping on it. Styling the head area took a lot of effort—the hat brim was wide and rigid, and wearing it over the blue wig placed the center of gravity quite high, requiring constant balance while moving to prevent the hat from slipping off. The white knee-high boots on my legs were surprisingly versatile; the gold toe accent embellished the frame, while leaving a small sliver of leg exposed, which enhanced both line aesthetics and the character's lively feel.

The staff prop provided plenty of creative freedom this time; the long white staff with its uniquely shaped top was longer than half my body height. A prop like this holds a natural advantage in composition—whether resting on the ground or slung over the shoulder, it instantly establishes visual tension. However, holding it for a long time proved quite heavy, especially when executing seemingly effortless standing poses or staff-waving motions, which required core strength to prevent arm tremors from ruining image stability. Quick snapshots by the photographer were crucial as well. Since convention venues are crowded, finding a clean background wasn't easy. We intentionally found a tiled area with surface reflections near the edge of the exhibition hall, using a dark background wall to darken the shadows; this highlighted the character's light-colored clothing while making the staff's silhouette much sharper.

For specific poses, we experimented with several visual presentations. For sitting shots, I sat on a white plush mat, extending my legs outward to elongate body proportions and highlight the lower body outfit. For standing poses, I used the staff to adopt defensive or spellcasting stances, adjusting shoulder and hip orientations to vary the silhouette. Furthermore, close-up shots captured the character's subtle expressions more intently; wearing blue contact lenses gave my gaze that cool yet innocent feel true to the character. Under a low-angle shot, the cape flared out dramatically, which, combined with the wide hat brim overhead, created a dignified sense of ceremony.

The ambient lighting inside the convention hall was actually somewhat messy, but the photographer used clever lighting techniques to ensure the convention photos retained an authentic environment feel. Though walking around in a coat and hard-soled boots felt a bit stuffy, along with constantly adjusting props and the wig, making me physically tired, seeing the final photos capture the character's calm, composed demeanor made all the hard work worthwhile. The entire shoot took about forty minutes—fast-paced and efficient—yielding six final photos that encompass sitting, standing, and staff-holding states.
