[Alice cosplay] Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, The Red-Haired Swordsman in a Retro Antique Shop

Choosing the venue for this antique shop photoshoot took a really long time, finally settling on a retro antique shop filled with old vintage items. From the piano to wall clocks, retro telephones to walls filled with oil paintings, every corner breathes a rich European manor atmosphere, which surprisingly pairs well with Alice's noble pride and ready-to-draw-sword character personality. The red wig was a key focus for this look; to recreate that iconic ahoge on top of her head, I specially adjusted the strand direction and support curvature to ensure it curled up naturally rather than sticking up rigidly. The off-the-shoulder design of the white top combined with black ribbon straps at the neckline and waist posed a noticeable restriction on movement once actually wearing it—especially during sharp turns where it easily shifted out of place—so many angles were held with controlled restraint. However, that black ruffled miniskirt paired with pure white tights looked extraordinary under the warm yellow lights; when light hit my legs, it formed natural highlight zones, bringing out the texture instantly.

During the shoot, I tried several different states to fit the character's temperament. Sitting in that carved armchair, I deliberately kept my body relaxed while keeping a sharp gaze; poses with hands on hips or arms crossed actually expressed that unyielding stubbornness better. The shots standing at the end of the hallway looked visually tall and sleek due to the strong sense of depth. The few photos in front of the piano are personal favorites—fingers resting on the tips of my hair, complemented by oil paintings and floor clocks behind me, creating an illusion of time standing still. The lighting on set consisted of warm-toned spotlights that left distinct shadows on the floor, which added three-dimensionality and narrative storytelling to the visuals instead of looking flat.

Honestly, wearing outfits with straps and ruffles tests posture the most—slouching even a bit makes one look devoid of spirit, so I kept reminding myself to keep my back straight throughout. Also, white tights get dirty very easily, so I stuck protective stickers to my shoe soles before feeling confident enough to walk around on the vintage carpet. In post-processing, no exaggerated filters were used; we mainly unified color temperature and shadow details to preserve the original retro nostalgic atmosphere as much as possible. As a work with such a vast worldbuilding, finding a real-life location so well-suited for shooting was truly a thrilling experience. From location selection to makeup testing to actual shooting, a lot of effort went into this photoshoot. I hope the final visuals allow everyone to feel a corner of that adventure-filled fantasy world.
