For this Shinobu Oshino swimsuit styling, I explored some fresh approaches ranging from hair and makeup to the shooting location. The wig features long straight blonde hair with a subtle orange gradient, which looks remarkably translucent under outdoor sunlight. To ensure the bangs and sidelocks curved cleanly to frame my face, I shaped them with a curling wand and generously applied setting spray before heading out, allowing the hair to hold its form smoothly even when breezes kicked up during the shoot.
The outfit is a two-piece white swimsuit accented with ruffles, where crisscrossing slender straps visually flatter the silhouette. The edges of the top and bottoms have plentiful ruffle details that needed to be smoothed out carefully to avoid creasing on camera. Since we were shooting at an authentic outdoor pool in a water park, the fabric would naturally darken once soaked, so we rushed to capture a crisp set while my hair and costume were still completely dry—which is the white swimsuit set you see here. To complement the summer theme, I later paired it with a woven straw hat and a pink swim ring to add a relaxed vacation mood.
The makeup prioritized clarity and translucency. The eye makeup blended soft pinks and orange-brown tones, paired with dark contact lenses to accentuate the eyes. The blush was dusted on more noticeably to evoke a sun-kissed, slightly flushed warmth. For the base, I selected waterproof foundation and setting powder, as outdoor UV rays and pool reflections put heavy demands on makeup longevity, easily causing patchiness if neglected. Between takes, I kept blotting sweat from my nose and forehead with tissues to preserve a clean, flawless look.
Shooting at a water park is noticeably more exhausting than in a studio. Not only does the light shift rapidly—making it tough to keep your eyes open under harsh midday sun—but slippery pool edges also require constant caution. For the poses seated by the poolside, the ground was actually quite hot, and resting a foot on the swim ring was a clever way to find stable balance. Still, with the shimmering water reflections dancing across my face alongside the azure pool and lush greenery in the background, that refreshing summer ambiance photographed exquisitely.
In portraying the character's demeanor, I did my best to balance innocent sweetness with a hint of enigmatic, tsundere aloofness. The gaze and hand gestures were fine-tuned across every shot: the half-body frame aimed to channel subtle presence and poise, while sitting by the pool leaned into a relaxed, everyday vibe. The photographer continually adjusted angles to compose around passing crowds. While wrapping this set took a great deal of stamina, capturing this authentic aquatic summer mood made every bit of effort truly worthwhile.
