[Bailu Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — Daily Consultations of an Alchemy Commission Healer

Today I'm sharing this Bailu cosplay set from Honkai: Star Rail. As a healer of the Alchemy Commission, wearing this outfit really gives me an urge to offer medical checkups to everyone around.

First, let's talk about the overall costume, makeup, and props. This light purplish-blue wig took a lot of effort; the length and bangs were slightly different before, so I spent a long time re-trimming it myself, especially to achieve that fluffy, slightly frizzy tip texture fitting the character's casual and dazed vibe. The dragon horns and head ornaments on top are also crucial—these white-gradient horns needed to be secured carefully onto the wig, and I added internal support so they wouldn't flatten down and could stand firm even under outdoor wind. The single thick braid on the left side is the true soul of the look, bringing a lively charm when wrapped to the front.

As for the costume, the blue-and-white with black-and-gold color scheme is extremely iconic. The black high collar with a zipper on the chest and cutout geometric areas provide a subtle skin reveal that fits the art setting while allowing easy movement for cosplayers. Water and cloud patterns on the fabric are very refined, requiring careful alignment at the neckline and shoulder seams. The detached white wide sleeves feature a raw-edge fur design, instantly creating layers with a slight hand lift, making for super photogenic poses during shoots. The round gold accessories hanging on the outfit, decorative pendants, and red cord tassels on the chest are all packed with detail.

For props, I specially prepared a large gourd—a standard for our little Alchemy Commission healer. Featuring a metallic gold-and-brown palette tied with a red cord and blue tassels, it feels great in hand. During the shoot, cradling the gourd in my arms or holding it up to wave helped quickly establish her lively, bright, and slightly mischievous character traits.

For makeup, I experimented with some signature techniques. Eye makeup required special care: besides standard eyeliner and lashes, the key lay in large-area smudging of red-brown and brick-red on the lower eyelids, which, paired with blue contact lenses, gave my eyes a spirited, slightly tsundere, yet innocent look. Lips shouldn't be drawn too red; a natural matte rose or pink shade looks closer to the skin translucency of 2D characters. For base makeup, I aimed for a fair, clean, and clear texture to fit the Xianzhou art style.

During shooting, I kept exploring her usual expressions. Although she is set to be sleepy often and sleeps for long periods, wearing this healer outfit—especially holding the pulse-checking prop—instills a strange sense of mission. In front of the camera, I specifically recreated her slightly tired yet earnest expressions, occasionally tilting my head, resting my chin on my hand, or raising a palm to wave playfully. These poses felt very natural, as if I had truly become that little healer greeting different visitors.

However, in this Roleplay of a character for Anime cosplay, costume and makeup alone aren't enough; one needs to understand her inner world. Although my interpretation might seem a bit casual, I really love how she carries many worries despite her young age. So I tried my best to combine the composure of a professional little healer with her occasional childlike nature.

While organizing this look, I found this costume blending traditional style with Xianzhou sci-fi elements truly charming. Its cut isn't complex, but it has many layers; if not arranged properly, it easily looks messy and compromises photo quality. So before every shutter click, I subconsciously adjusted the collar or made sure the braid didn't stick too flat against my chest. The red cord on the prop gourd also needed to face outward to look best.

Although we didn't shoot in an outdoor Xianzhou scene this time, a solid-color background actually highlighted costume details and colors beautifully. Paired with soft, natural lighting, the overall photo texture turned out exceptionally clean. As a cosplayer, the greatest joy Bailu cosplay brings me is that carefree state infused with a sense of authority, as if taking out the medicine gourd can solve any problem.

In preparing for this cosplay, I re-watched her story cutscenes, noticing her familiarity with herbs and illnesses as well as her care for others, which gave me added confidence and responsibility during the shoot.
