I finally managed to capture the long-awaited Spring Banquet theme for Shu from Arknights. Staging the shoot in an outdoor environment framed by massive tree roots and dappled sunlight aligned flawlessly with Shu's serene, carefree aura amidst nature. The garment is exceptionally rich in craftsmanship: the top features a vibrant bright yellow hue accented with clean white vertical stripes in front, while the shoulders and sleeve cuffs are pieced with voluminous, cloud-soft white ruffles. The undisputed visual centerpiece is the colossal pink bow sash cinched at the waist, lending rich dimensional depth with its graceful, fluid drape. The bottoms are deep purple wide-leg trousers incorporating sheer lace panels along the outseams that subtly reveal leg contours as I move, paired with white platform sandals to retain ethereal immortal elegance while remaining practical for navigating an outdoor location without feeling visually cumbersome.

The wig was by far the most labor-intensive component. Capturing that seamless tricolor gradient from golden-yellow to pale white and down into deep navy, alongside the matching blue-gradient dragon horns atop the crown, required extensive heat-setting and styling. Every strand had to be combed meticulously so the fibers wouldn't look frizzy under direct sunlight. The side braid was woven with delicate pink florets that swayed gently with each step, breathing organic life into the silhouette. For props, I prepared a handcrafted wooden serving tray laden with a white porcelain sake jug and cups, several plates of vibrantly colored wagashi confections, and a dainty white lace doily to inject rustic pastoral refinement. The blue-and-green traditional landscape handscroll laid beside my hands served as the masterstroke, creating a striking aesthetic contrast against the raw natural roots to ensure the composition felt rich and grounded.

Daylight performed magnificently on the day of the shoot: dappled sunbeams filtered through the leafy canopy, splashing vibrant, highly saturated highlights across the yellow fabric and the wig. Cradling the tiny porcelain cup in hand truly felt like lingering over afternoon tea in a tranquil courtyard. Outdoor shoots are inherently demanding; gentle breezes caused the wig strands and billowy sleeves to flutter erratically, requiring continuous readjustments to the skirt gathers and ruffles to keep the lines clean. The photographer and I synchronized angles repeatedly, testing diverse positions to balance full-body garment presentation with background spatial depth. Between takes, I explored alternative postures, such as perching sideways with the landscape scroll positioned in the foreground to deepen layered depth. Though preparing the props and completing the styling took tremendous time, seeing the finished frames made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Bringing a game character into an authentic natural landscape felt truly magical—without forcing exaggerated poses, simply sitting peacefully and soaking in the spring breeze was more than enough to capture the vision living in my heart. I hope this photo set delivers a refreshing breath of springtime to everyone, and fellow fans are warmly invited to share their own photography insights and costume-making craft.
