[Topaz cosplay] Clocking Out with Numby, a Honkai: Star Rail Worker's Goodnight Time

This is the final photo returned after finishing tonight's shoot at the convention night session, which is also a true portrayal of us Honkai: Star Rail workers tonight. Having just clocked out, I'm sharing the results of tonight's Honkai: Star Rail overtime shoot. In the lore, Topaz travels everywhere with Numby, and today I also experienced this kind of busyness, with the authentic feeling of "carrying Numby to collect debts" rushing over me.

Overall, the shooting atmosphere today was perfectly in place. Let's talk about the recreation of the costume details first; the preparation for this gear was actually much more complex than what the audience sees. The white high-neck inner layer combined with the red-and-gold shoulder vest straps alone took nearly half an hour to put on, and care had to be taken to keep all edges smooth without creases. The leather sleeves on the arms have a great texture, but it was indeed a bit stuffy for a summer outfit. With the matching straps for fixing, the entire upper body had a solid wrapped feeling. The part that tested my patience the most was actually the thigh ring decoration and leather belt at the waist; they needed to be adjusted to the right tightness to maintain sturdiness without affecting temporary action scheduling in front of the fixed camera, while also presenting a sense of lines that fit the character setting in front of the lens. To recreate the character's dashing temperament as much as possible, the costume fabric was specially chosen with a certain level of support, making the upper-body effect upright and sleek.

Compared to natural light during the day, the biggest challenge of night shooting is often the restoration of lighting and colors. However, I was very lucky to encounter excellent lighting coordination today, and the photographer was highly skilled at capturing the warm yellow atmosphere of the night session. The bokeh spots in the background form an excellent contrast with the subject, beautifully setting off the silver-white texture of the wig cleanly and softly. Because the wig was custom-made, the length and direction of the bangs were trimmed several times before wearing to leave just the right amount of airy feel among the hair strands, while also taking care of the facial expressions, making the overall visual effect fit the professionalism in the original setting better. For convention photography, the makeup is even more critical. To match the character color scheme of Honkai: Star Rail, I chose a relatively clear but bright white, sweat-proof base makeup, and the orange-pink gradient of the eyeshadow could echo my own pupil color, which took us quite a bit of time to adjust.

Speaking of Numby, this cute fellow was truly the source of joy throughout the entire shoot. Compared to pure posing, this prop is actually quite heavy in hand, and holding it with one hand or cradling it in front of the chest was indeed a test of arm strength and core stability. In the photo, I look quite relaxed holding it with one hand, but when actually shooting those sets of movements, my arm muscles were trembling slightly to keep my expressions in place. But precisely because of this weight, the interaction with the character looks more vivid and authentic in the frame, conveying that unique tacit understanding between a workplace elite and their pet.

After finishing this full-length photo, my stamina was basically exhausted, and the long overtime for Honkai: Star Rail has finally drawn a period. Although being fully armed left me so tired that I just wanted to slump down somewhere, seeing the texture recreated in this set of photos makes me feel that all the effort was worth it. This process of carefully preparing costumes and props, and staying up late with the photography team to create, is inherently the best way to relieve stress after work. The night lights, the perfectly timed snapshots, and the character's own workplace memes all make me feel that today's work was highly rewarding.
