Shooting this set of convention photos from the AB Anime Convention, the overall state from makeup and styling to on-site framing was quite refreshing. This green and white color palette presents a wonderful texture under natural light and the venue's cool light sources.
Although the convention venue was bustling with people passing back and forth, this time I specially picked an area with relatively transparent light, which beautifully highlighted the character subject after the background was blurred. The ceiling of the AB Anime Convention venue has regular light strips that happen to serve as point light decorations in the frame.
In this styling, the most thought went into the wig color replication and the texture handling of the beast ears. The mint green hair color is very light and easily looks overly reflective under intense light, so the curvature of the bangs and the long hair hanging down on both sides underwent minor adjustments this time. The inner side of the fluffy fox ears selected long, slender white fuzz, while the outer auricle featured a light orange-brown texture. Once put on, it framed the head shape very well, and the head's center of gravity remained quite stable.
In terms of clothing, the sleeve design this time features flowing water sleeves combined with a layered origami feel. The white fabric has many pleated turning points; when walking while wearing it, as long as the arms make small movements, the cuffs spread out naturally, forming excellent dynamic snapshot points. The bright yellow short outer jacket forms a wonderful visual color-blocking with the bright blue inner top at the chest, and paired with the dark brown wide waist corset, the overall color scheme looks clean and sharp. The blue hollow circular ring earrings on both sides of the ears are also a finishing touch; combined with the green hair, the overall styling has high recognition.
The base makeup and eye makeup were also parts I cared deeply about. To align with the character's clever yet composed temperament, light green colored contacts were specially chosen, and the eye makeup focused on depicting the smoothness of the eyeliner and the elongation of the outer corners, making my gaze look much brighter. The makeup on both sides of the cheeks was kept clean so it could integrate well with the somewhat exaggerated wig styling.
During the shooting process, the on-site photographer was highly skilled at snapshots. This outfit is actually more suitable for making some relaxed, playful, or completely composed hand movements. For instance, the pose of making a heart shape with both hands, a peace sign, closing eyes and nodding, along with a full-body standing posture with hands quietly crossed, could beautifully outline the character's three-dimensionality. Especially for that set of close-ups with closed eyes, the fluffy feel of the fox ears was fully revealed.
Doing cosplay convention photos in an environment like a comic con, even though there are many passing pedestrians around, as long as you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the character you are playing and find a comfortable lens presence, the production efficiency is actually very high. This costume is not only suitable for static close-ups; when walking around, the flowing feel of the wide white sleeves and the long skirt becomes even more apparent.
The overall atmosphere of the convention photos from this AB Anime Convention was very bright and transparent, and the wig and hair replication accuracy and matching details were all presented exactly according to the expected effects, making it a highly completed set of convention photos. Looking back at these prints, I am still very grateful for the on-site photographer's patience and cooperation, capturing the temperament of this character perfectly.
