This time, I’m bringing a review of my Raiden Shogun cosplay (also known as Raiden Ei cosplay) work. This set of backlog photos was recorded through mirror selfies at home a while ago as part of my anime cosplay collection. A lot of thought was put into the accuracy of the overall look, especially the wig. The long dark purple hair was adjusted in terms of volume and hair texture, which, together with the hair ornaments and the sideburns on both sides, helps a lot in framing the facial contours. The costume features a modified cut with Japanese elements, with the red obi belt serving as the visual centerpiece, paired with golden rope knots and amethyst accessories, making the color transition between the upper and lower body look very harmonious. The wide sleeves and cinched waist design make the overall body proportions look slender, and the patchwork and drape of the outer skirt are just right.
As for props, this tachi is not only key to recreating the character's aura, but it was also quite challenging during the actual shoot. When lifting the tachi with one hand, because the prop itself carries a certain physical weight, I needed to adjust the angle of my arm's strength to maintain a steady posture, while ensuring it didn't block key details of the costume. The over-the-knee high boots paired with the thigh straps effectively enhance the leg lines in a standing posture, creating a contrast with the short hemline. One advantage of taking mirror selfies is being able to check the composition in the lens at any time; for instance, the full-length mirror perspective in the first photo clearly displays the three-dimensional presence of the entire outfit in the space. The wide sleeves somewhat restrict movement when striking a sword-slashing pose, so the posture needs to be slightly restrained, making the hand movements look both natural and powerful. Regarding the choice of lighting, I tried my best to preserve the metallic sheen of the golden trim and accessories on the costume, enhancing the sense of layering under daily indoor lighting. Organizing this set of photos serves on one hand to document the completion level of this Inazuma cosplay, and on the other hand to experience how a look featuring both majesty and elegance performs in front of the lens. From combing the wig straight to adjusting the details of wearing the costume, the whole process deepens my understanding of the character's design in Genshin Impact.
