[Velina cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Outdoor Shoot: Silver-Haired Elf by the Garden Fountain

This outdoor cosplay photoshoot for Velina from Zenless Zone Zero is finally wrapped. The location was set in a garden adorned with fountains and hydrangeas, offering crystal-clear natural illumination against a backdrop of blue skies and white clouds, which yielded gorgeous color rendering without relying on heavy post-processing.

First, let's talk about the wardrobe. The spliced deep-blue and white top features fabric with a metallic luster that reflects rich, multi-dimensional sheen under direct sunlight. To faithfully capture the waistline design, a black leather corset was crafted, accented with silver studs and buckles; though cinched quite firmly, it sculpted a sharp, defined waistline before the lens. The sleeves are long in deep blue, styled with exaggerated wide white cuffs and gold buttons—whenever I raised my arm to hold the folding fan, the structured volume of the sleeves looked remarkably dimensional.

On the lower half, I wore white shorts paired with over-the-knee socks (White stockings) trimmed in delicate lace, matched with silver glossy high heels. The heels were rather tall, requiring deliberate focus on balance when standing and walking across the red-brick paving. Because the outdoor sun was intense, keeping my gaze focused and steady demanded continuous effort to prevent squinting. Long, straight silvery-white locks easily flutter in outdoor breezes, so after every sequence of shots, the bangs and ends had to be recombed into alignment. To complement the elf ear features, a white bow design was styled atop the head, which also took substantial effort to anchor firmly to the wig.

Regarding props, the folding fan in hand served as a key accessory. The fan leaf is white, accented with blue arrow motifs and orange geometric details. Whether opened against the bust or raised alongside the cheek, it injected wonderful kinetic dynamism into the frame. Photographer Fengyun was exceptionally adept at guiding the shoot. We captured several distinct scenes and postures: the first setup was sitting on a vintage floral-patterned sofa with legs crossed while holding the fan. This pose focused on flattering leg lines and the texture of the white Stockings, balanced harmoniously by the fountain and open sky in the background. The second setup leaned against the flower bed with legs folded, elongating bodily proportions while highlighting the rear tailoring of the outfit and the drape of the train. We also shot standing and leaping stances to freeze the effortless flutter of the garment in motion.

In outdoor shoots, the true trial lies in makeup endurance. High temperatures easily induce sweat and shine, so setting spray and translucent powder were applied generously, while eye makeup utilized waterproof, smudge-resistant formulas—essential since violet contact lenses paired with purple eyeshadow would show running makeup immediately. During breathers, touch-ups and wig maintenance took up most of the downtime. Navigating complex outdoor terrain meant contending with harsh sunlight while taking care not to scratch the outfit on shrubbery or step onto flowerbeds. Each relocation required rearranging the trailing skirt train and hip tassels to ensure no stray clutter entered the frame. The outfit's layering is intricate, though breathability is modest, making hours under the blazing sun quite physically demanding. Nonetheless, seeing how the light and shadow sculpted the fabric textures on camera made every effort worthwhile. The folding fan also doubled as a handy cooling fan during breaks! The entire session flowed seamlessly, making the most of authentic outdoor daylight and real scenery, and allowing every nuance and layer of this creation to shine with complete fidelity.
