[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact Character Outdoor Fountain Light and Shadow Sharing

This shoot took place in an outdoor Fountain scene featuring classical sculptures. The weather that day was very clear and the sunlight was bright. The costume is mainly a red-and-white color scheme; the red corset structure on the upper body combined with a white ruffled collar provides a strong sense of wrapping when worn. The white skirt on the lower body features an irregular tattered edge treatment decorated with thin black lines, and the blue-and-white inner lining peeks out from the hem, allowing the overall layering of the look to be clearly visible under this natural light. The white fabric strips on the arms and wrists, as well as the long ribbons hanging from the waist, were perfect for performing flowing body movements in the wind during the shoot.

Regarding the head styling, the black base paired with thick pink highlights on both sides gives the hair texture a nice gloss under strong light. The hollowed-out white eye mask on the head is a rather crucial element. Wearing it indeed restricts vision, allowing me to only see through the slits, but this certainly helped me get into character much faster. The white feather-like hair accessory on the side, combined with the overall look, makes the side profile appear quite rich.

The environment of Outdoor photography actually tests the coordination between the model and the photographer. The exaggerated expressions of the stone sculptures around the fountain convey a strong sense of classical mythology, which, paired with this character's slightly mysterious styling, leaves plenty of room for composition. In the first photo, I chose a pose with one arm raised and my body leaning backward; this movement nicely showcases the costume's hem and ribbons while allowing more light to hit the body, creating a strong light-and-shadow contrast and a feeling of standing against the light. The second photo features me sitting on the edge of the fountain adjusting the fabric strips, showing a more casual and different state.

In actual cosplay shoots, outdoor lighting is a double-edged sword. The sunlight around noon that day was very fierce. Although the hard light captured made the images look translucent, it also placed high demands on the color saturation of the makeup and costume. Before setting out, I specifically adjusted the fabric strips on the outfit many times, as they easily tangle when walking and changing poses. The wig also required constant attention to the wind direction to prevent the bangs from covering the mask or making the highlighted parts look messy.

Columbina as a character inherently possesses a sense of detachment and mystery. In this performance, I tried to convey this atmosphere by slowing down my movement rhythm and adjusting the direction of my head tilts. Even though my eyes are hidden by the mask, body language and neck lines can equally convey emotions. In conclusion, this Genshin Impact character Outdoor photography experience was quite enjoyable; the sunlight and Fountain scene injected a lot of visual expressiveness into the character. Shooting outdoors is indeed physically demanding; from wearing and organizing props to persisting through different camera angle poses, the whole process lasted for several hours, but upon seeing the final light and shadow effects, I felt everything was totally worth it. I will continue to try other different styles of Outdoor photography in the future.
