While sorting through these archive photos, looking back at the makeup from that time, there were indeed a few points requiring an apology as mentioned in the post—due to limited conditions back then, the eyeshadow blending layers weren't handled very cleanly. Yet it is precisely such slightly flawed archival shots that document the most authentic state of that time. The costume construction for Genshin Impact's Lynette Cosplay is quite complex. The cuffs of the white shirt have a certain puffiness, which, paired with the leather corset, creates a visual contrast between rigidity and softness. The pleating craftsmanship on the corset is very exquisite, but also extremely tight; keeping my back straight throughout the shoot was a major test of stamina. The leather pleated skirt and turquoise lining on the lower half create wonderful layering when in motion. To align with the character design, I also wore Black stockings and platform over-the-knee boots. Although the over-the-knee boots elongated the shape of my legs, they were very heavy, requiring deliberate effort with every leg raise.
For accessories, the fluffy Cat ears and long tail are the soul of the look. The tail was anchored with a wire; during turns and jumping motions, its angle had to be constantly readjusted to ensure a natural drape rather than looking stiff. The vibrant lake-blue bow tie at the neckline and the blue argyle capelet draping down the back brightened the visual focus of the overall black-and-white palette. The playing cards, cane, and top hat in hand are hallmarks of her magician identity. For the shot holding cards to cover my face, I specifically found an angle that avoided blind spots, letting a feline focus shine through my eyes; paired with purple-red colored contacts, it looked remarkably playful yet vigilant in close-ups. The motion of tapping the ground with the cane used it as an anchor point to make my body proportions appear even longer on camera.
This photo set was shot outside in front of modern architecture. It had just rained, leaving puddles on the ground, and the light was the diffuse reflection characteristic of an overcast day, presenting an overall cool and serene atmosphere that perfectly matched Lynette's calm, mysterious, and even slightly languid personality. In choreographing the movements, I tried to show the multifaceted nature of the character: beyond the mystique of hiding behind cards, there was the lively bounce of jumping on one leg, as well as the elegance of tilting my head slightly while holding the top hat before the lens. For a character possessing both Cat ears and magician traits, expressions must be restrained—minimizing exaggerated facial expressions and letting the eyes convey the emotions.
Shooting the entire session in this complex gear gave me a deeper understanding of this dual-faceted young girl from Genshin Impact. Every bend to pick up the fallen hat, every adjustment of the cane's position before the camera, was a step closer to the character's inner self. The white wig is actually very prone to frizz; recreating that face-framing cat-head shape from the game meant spending considerable time upfront managing the hairline and the direction of the bangs. As soon as the outdoor wind blew, styling spray had to be reapplied continuously. Although the finished photos look quite good, the chaotic fluster during the shoot was very real. My thanks go to the photographer who braved the chilly weather to shoot outdoors with me and the dedicated retoucher. While the makeup had its shortcomings, I am already very satisfied with the overall atmosphere of this cosplay photo set.
