[Castorice cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Dreamy Sea of Flowers Photography

For this Honkai: Star Rail Castorice cosplay photoshoot, we transformed the studio into a fantastical realm carpeted with purplish-pink blossoms. To align with the character's ethereal atmosphere, extensive preparations were poured into everything from wardrobe and props to set lighting and shadow.

Castorice's attire is rich in tactile layers and details. The main body features a deep blue halter minidress bordered with white ruffled flounces, while the outer blue fabric carries textures reminiscent of butterfly wings that drape fluidly with every step. The black corset around the waist not only accentuates proportions but also introduces a touch of structured sharpness. The black lace cutout choker around my neck and the blue butterfly hairpiece pinned to the side of my head served as key details elevating the overall sophistication. I also wore pointed elf-ear prosthetics, harmonizing my makeup with pink-purple eyeshadow tones to visually resonate with the character design.

Regarding props, that massive scythe was a true labor of love. The long black haft connects to a scythe blade interlaced with silver and magenta hues, centered around an eye-catching gem-like core. During shooting, I found this scythe was not only a fantastic visual anchor for the frame, but also helped me slip effortlessly into character. When standing with the scythe in hand, to infuse the composition with tension, I angled my shoulders with a subtle lateral tilt while engaging my leg muscles to project a poised, upright silhouette.

The interplay of light and shadow across the set was equally captivating. The photographer cast sweeping cool-toned purplish-blue illumination across white classical carved pillars, arches, and the blanket of pink petals covering the floor, creating a delicate warm-cool chromatic contrast. Lounging on the white classical tufted sofa required mindful postural discipline: with a shorter skirt hem, leg placement became the compositional focus. I gently extended my legs while seated, utilizing the sleek silhouette of the high heels to elongate proportions, while letting my hands cross naturally or brush against the hair ornaments to enhance storytelling nuance.

The shots reclining amidst the flower bed were a genuine workout for core stability. To let the skirt drape in an organic, cascading spread while keeping my facial expression completely serene, I tried numerous supine and side-lying angles on set, which certainly left my neck and lower back aching. Yet because the lighting mood was so magical, and the butterfly patterns of the dress harmonized seamlessly with the floral surroundings, the demanding process was an absolute pleasure.
