Let's talk about the photos of Topaz cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail at this Fuzhou Chaoyou Anime Convention. Since it was a low-key photography theme, this spot found by the photographer Changjinglu while sitting on the ground truly has great texture. With the overhead top light coming down, the highlights on the leather gloves and boots reflect just right, instantly making the overall atmosphere deep and serious.

Since the setting was a "pay your debts" cosplay pose reference, I specially practiced a few sets of gun-holding stances. For the first set of sitting and raising the gun, the key is to open up the shoulder lines; both the arm height and the gun angle must be found correctly, otherwise it will look very stiff on camera. For the second set, placing the gun near the lips with a slightly contemplative gaze, I tried to capture that state of being both at ease and slightly scrutinizing.

The costume this time was also awesome. The black, white, and red color-blocked leather miniskirt, combined with long patent leather gloves, creates a semi-wrapped structure that works excellently in this low-key lighting. The boots feature chunky heels, and when firmly planting my feet while sitting on a high stool, the elongation of the legs feels amazing. The red ribbon at the waist drapes naturally after sitting on the high stool, and when in motion, the wind catches the ribbon, giving the frame a sense of fluid breathing room.

Let's chat about the experience at the anime convention. Shooting this low-key style at a convention is actually quite difficult because the venue itself has complex light sources, relying entirely on the photographer's on-site lighting control. This set of convention photos successfully captures the balance between the character's sharpness and casualness. Throughout the entire pose design, besides striking the postures, the coordination between the gaze and hand movements is also crucial, requiring one to ponder the character's mindset when facing debtors—that expression of being perfectly justified yet carrying a hint of pressure.

Actually, every time I do an outdoor shoot or attend a convention, the biggest fear is having identical poses. That's why in this "striking poses" segment, we experimented with one-handed gun spinning, semi-low-angle shots, and sitting adjustments across different camera positions. Looking at the raw photos after the shoot, I feel that even in a fast-paced environment like a convention, some detailed variations can still be made. Although the on-site foot traffic was massive, fortunately, the camera position was chosen relatively high, so the background wasn't too cluttered. With a bit of post-processing on the lighting contrast, the atmospheric vibe of the entire set met the standard. Overall, this shoot was highly satisfying; there was plenty of room for expression in both costume texture and pose orchestration, and I look forward to the next styling challenge.
