[Shimoe Koharu Cosplay] Blue Archive's Maid Koharu Appears at Firefly with a Little Cake

The results from this shoot at Guangzhou Firefly Anime Expo can finally be posted. I wore Shimoe Koharu's classic pink maid outfit with white trim. The pink halo and black wing accessories on top turned so many heads at the venue, and combined with the little plush charm at my waist, the overall sweetness of the look was completely maxed out. For this shoot, we specifically brought a full set of Jinbei lighting systems. The main light was an HD250max with an 80cm octagonal softbox, delivering very even and soft facial light that restored the texture of the white lace and pink satin on the maid outfit beautifully. For side-backlighting, we used a bare HD100 flash to outline the hair and wing edges, making the hair strands glow with a beautiful luster. To make the leg and shoe details look more three-dimensional, I also added a low-level leg light on the ground using a direct flash from a Hi500pro, giving the reflections on the black platform Mary Janes a crystal-clear look. Since it was an anime convention, the background crowd was very noisy and cluttered, but using a Sony A7 IV with a large aperture lens blurred the background into lovely bokeh, making the character pop right out. During the shoot, the photographer had me do a series of interactive poses using the small tray and cake as props—from lifting my skirt to standing on one leg, then holding the tray with both hands to hand it forward—the whole process was very smooth. Looking back at the straight-out-of-camera raw shots, both the skin tone and outfit colors are extremely natural; Sony's in-camera color science really saves a lot of post-processing time in convention photography environments. Being able to blend Koharu's energetic vibe with a maid's obedient charm this time was inseparable from the precise lighting setup with the Jinbei gear on site. Although it was crowded and tiring on the convention day, being able to produce a set of photos this clear and atmospheric made it all worth it. Photography and lighting worked seamlessly together, and all the character details were fully brought out.
