The moment I put on this iconic Zenless Zone Zero Ellen Joe Maid outfit and stepped into the classroom, the atmosphere shifted instantly. The black-and-white maid dress, combined with tough metal and rivet hardware, perfectly blends cuteness with a mechanical aesthetic. The silver clips on the headpiece, the intricate mechanical collar around the neck, and that massive, heavy organic tail behind me form a striking visual anchor for this character. To capture the lazy yet sharp demeanor of this ice-attribute taciturn shark girl, the eye makeup featured a red-and-black gradient blend paired with red contact lenses, naturally conveying a gaze that is cool, aloof, and nonchalant.

This prop was probably the most eye-catching and heaviest piece I've handled since I started cosplay. That massive weapon in black, red, and white color-blocking not only delivers a powerful visual impact, but whether held in hand or casually propped against a desk, instantly steers the ordinary classroom atmosphere toward a worldview where daily life coexists with sci-fi. The light reflecting off the silver parts of the weapon looked gorgeous, greatly elevating the texture of the photos. The Black stockings cosplay paired with black chunky-heeled Mary Janes elongated the leg lines in low-angle shots without overwhelming the color palette, maintaining unified black-and-white harmony.

A classroom setting truly tests on-camera expression because the environment is relatively ordinary and cluttered. To align with the character setting, I deliberately chose poses interacting with the desks and chairs—such as straddling desks, resting a foot on a chair, or leaning against a desk while chewing a lollipop. These seemingly casual, unguarded postures are precisely how this taciturn shark girl unwinds. The oversized weapon often doesn't need exaggerated swings; resting quietly at my side, it creates an intriguing contrast with the natural silence of the classroom.

Moreover, the most charming aspect of this character is the cute gap between her seemingly cold exterior and subtle gestures. For example, when holding a red lollipop in her mouth, even if her gaze pretends to stay frosty, the overall ambiance softens considerably. Working with the photographer, we used the lollipop as a prop to enhance this casual, everyday vibe, striving to showcase her combat-ready silhouette while capturing that nuanced "too lazy to care, yet still interacting with you" dynamic.

In reality, a classroom setting provides very soft and natural light without overly flashy illumination. As long as the model's movements and expressions are on point, the raw photos carry a strong narrative on their own. The ruffles of this Maid outfit, the arm straps, and the waist belts all found great angles under various high and low shots. Overall, what I wanted to present was an Ellen Joe who speaks little and feels slightly lazy, yet carries full heavy gear, commanding presence, and a lollipop while strolling through the classroom. The chemistry with my partner was seamless during the shoot, adjusting camera angles in real time to cleanly and sharply recreate the 2D details of the Maid outfit and Black stockings cosplay under bright natural lighting.
