[Copano Rickey cosplay] Umamusume: Pretty Derby: An Off-Season Warrior's Summer Seaside Shoot

For this off-season shoot, we specially picked a seaside spot. The water temperature was actually quite chilly, but to recreate that crisp, refreshing summer look, I had to bite the bullet and step into the water barefoot. When capturing the first action shot of kicking up water splashes, I kicked dozens of times to control the splash height and arc. My legs needed to exert firm power while keeping the upper body relaxed, which really tested my core strength. The second seated pose was meant to showcase natural visual elongation—adjusting the tail's placement to avoid awkward wardrobe angles and using the clean lines of the white beach chair to lengthen leg proportions. This set was shot with a wide-angle lens from a low camera angle; combining the cool-toned seawater of the raw shots with the warm-toned wig, post-processing was kept to basic skin and lighting touch-ups. Every outdoor shoot feels like intensive physical labor; clothes and props easily get wet, so constantly wiping them dry to stay comfortable is a hard-earned piece of advice. Wearing a white T-shirt with blue floral shorts as a Summer outfit looked fantastic on the sand—the popping colors matched the character's energetic vibe without looking flat on camera. Compared to studio shoots, the blend of natural sunlight, water ripples, and authentic skin texture feels much more real. I hope this shooting style brings everyone a fresh visual experience.
