Although time has already moved to 2023 since shooting this Medusa cosplay piece from Fate/Grand Order, every time I look through the photos, I still feel that the creative state back then was incredibly satisfying. The core of this styling lies in recreating the character's cold yet dangerous traits.

In fact, the preparation of the costume, makeup, and props took a lot of effort in terms of details. For instance, the red markings on the forehead were processed with a special technique to maintain clear outlines and color saturation even under the dim light of a night scene. The long purple hair is a signature element of the character; blowing naturally in the night wind during the shoot, it perfectly counterbalanced the heaviness of the black leather attire while adding dynamic tension to the frame. The metallic texture and mechanical structure of the props were solidly crafted, carrying quite some weight when held in hand. Combined with close-up shots, they perfectly convey the unapproachable aura of Medusa as Rider.

Special thanks to the retoucher @白夜-w for the delicate post-processing, which managed the night light and shadow atmosphere with rich layers. The black shadows are not completely crushed, retaining sufficient details, while the purplish-red and magenta ambient reflections beautifully separate the character from the dark background. During the shoot, we focused on capturing moments where the character was concentrated or poised to strike; whether it was the mystery while wearing the blindfold or the combat stance holding the blades, we tried our best to match the character's innate calm yet dangerous temperament.

The matching of costumes, makeup, and props heavily impacts the Cosplay photography results. Localized details such as the leather gloves, bracers, and metallic spikes all present a unique texture under the refraction of light. For this kind of cool-toned night theme, color grading in post-production must be handled with restraint and layering—neither too bright nor completely dim. Every time shooting this type of photo set that requires action and expression management, it is truly a test of physical stamina. However, seeing the high completeness of the final prints makes all the energy and sweat invested back then completely worth it. I hope this sharing allows everyone to feel the unique charm of characters from the Fate series.
